    hi funkstu42,

I've had 3 versions of this problem. 2 of which I've manged to resolve and 1 I've posted today for some help on, but I'll tell you hox I fixed the other 2 problems.

    1. Could be that the game needs a patched XBE. In case you're not familiar with it, an XBE is like an EXE file on a PC. It's the file that the XBOX 'clicks on' to start the game. Some games, when copied to the HDD wont run unless the XBE is patched. Fight Club is a good example, if you copy the disc it works fine, but to play it on the XBOX you need to get another .XBE

    2. The time and date are wrong on the XBOX console. I had this problem with Manhunt and lots of EA Sports games, Even the originals. When I modded my xbox with an executer2 chip the date set itself to something like the year 4087. When I changed it back to 2004 hey presto! They all worked.

    3. I've just softmodded an XBOX for a friend in the past few days and installed a 120GB hdd using XBOXHDM. Everythigsn seems to be working, the new HDD built OK using teh XBOXHDM tools and boots EVOX fine, but wont play games from DVD or from the HDD. Haven't fixed that yet, but maybe one of teh 1st two will help you.

I did read earlier today, that someoen managed to resolve a problem like that by emptying the E:\CACHE folder. Never tried this before, so I can't reccommend it myself, but it seems to have worked for a few people.

BTW, what game were you trying to play??

The game i'm trying to play is called Dynasty Warriors 4
Is there some xbox software to patch the xbe? I already tried deleting the cache.

If you're creating a backup, you can patch the XBE file with Craxtion. (Available from www.craxtion.com)
There may be a simpler way than what I'm about to describe, but at least it works.

I assume you have the following

    A softmodded XBOX
    DVD2XBOX or XBCOPY
A PC that you can FTP to your XBOX with.

    1. Startup your XBOX without the game in it
    2. Run DVD2XBOX or XBCOPY.
    3. When it's finished, FTP into your XBOX.
    4. Copy the game from the location that you seleceted when you ran DVD2XBOX (usually E:\GAMES or F:\GAMES) - You may be abel to get away with just copying the default.xbe file, I'm not sure, try it first. If not then copy the whole game
    5. Run craxtion.
    6. Select the patch .xbe
    7. use the "look in" facility and find the .xbe on your PC where you FTP's it to and click patch.
    8. Once it's complete, ftp the default.xbe back onto your xbox into the game folder and try again.

Never played that game so dont know if it needs to be patched.
