Hello, I was wondering if it is possible to restore a stock HDD when the xbox is unmodded, I had it softmodded at the time and then I loaned my xbox to my cousin and even though i told him not to change anything, he messed with it and now i get Error 13 which is basically its missing the dashboard files, I tried installing a modchip, even though it was a cheap one (A spider GX), but it broke but i managed not mess up the board or anything. I still can't reach the dashboard so is there anyway to re-format the HDD to the original or a softmod? even if i have to get another chip, and if i do any recommendations? i'm kinda on a tight budget.

Do a hot swap or install a better mod chip.

i'd use AID but the save i used to get to it was erased so i thought i was stuck but i'll try a hot swap. Thanks for the responces. I'll trty loading a new game but i dunno if it'll read any games......that internal clock deal i think

EDIT: also, i softmodded and tried to Hard mod and it didn't work..........all i want to do is get to a dashboard, but i am going to try to update it when i get home later, hopefully it will work

oh and one quick question, is it the CD drive that doesn't allow for burns to be read *the slayer disc* and if it is is it possible to swap it for another

The DVD-ROM isn't the only reason back-ups and homebrew won't load from a disc. Swapping it out won't make a difference.
