Six months ago I bought a modded Xbox from a friend. It has worked perfectly until today, when it started to behave wierd. Everything works fine until it is rebooted. Then it starts and shuts off three times, and begins to FRAG. But the strage thing is, that if I shut it down and wait for about ten to fifteen minutes, it boots up normally again. Have anyone any idea what to do?

According to the boot up screen the modchip is a Xecuter2.

xecuter 2 is just the flash, that doesnt really mean you have an Xecuter chip. Anyways, it sounds like your chip is out of line. it must be a solderless version, it can happen every once in a while. just tighten the chip down a little and you should be fine.

i had a similar thing lately with mine, found the chip had come loose. If it is the solderless one it will just need re tightening as already stated, if not there may be a loose solder joint.

another thing about solderless chips is that the adpater screws for them suck! I have modded about ten boxes and they all at some point come loose, so now I go to a local hardware store and pick up a screw that has same thread, but a tad bit thicker. Ever since I have done that, I have had no problems and I take my box all over.

Actually it is not a solderless chip.. I also noticed that if I disconnect th d0 cable OR turn off the modchip the xbox boots up correct with the MS Dash.. Is the d0 connection bad or is it the mod chip thats broke?

the d0 point is where the chip gets its power. so if the chip is enabled and you boot the box its going to frag. check all of you solder points that is most likely the root of your problem.

is the d0 OK if the xbox boots up normally when the modchip is attached but turned off? Which would mean that the corrupt solder point should be one of the pin header points?
