Damn i like helping people but i think i know how Dank feels. When you bought your chip it came flashed with comnwell bios. So when you turn on your Xbox with the chip on it starts with linix bios. So from here all you can do 1s(1) install Linix
    (2) Flash your lite chip with other bios(via CD)
(3)Flash your lite chip with the programer.

Then after you flashed your chip can you run, EvoX,negxen, unlicened software, extra._X_X_X_X_X_[small]Your ZERO miles from safety

...U know that game called Unreal Tournament it's great. I play CTF with Zark mode.I play as {ZRK}Zero-X try to get a head shoot off of me...[/small]

Sorry if I sound like a complete newB but I am one. How do you do that? Nothing I do works. I am using a Sony CD-RW 650MB CD and have downloaded about ten different Bios' but I still get the "Bios Update" message. Can somebody please help me?

Well if you got the bios all you need to do is flash away. I hread the easies way to flash X2,X2.1,X2.2lite is by the programer. You can buy that on-line and it goes around 15 bucks. Thats why i got X2.2 pro. So if you don't have or don't want to get the programer you'll need toflash the chip via Boot CD. I tryed to flash my Chip like that but it didn't work for me. I know it works but not for me. Here are to links that will help you out. I like the Xbox-scene one better looks to be more detialed. Hope this helps.

Ok so I have another question.

I know you can not link to a BIOS or anything simmular for legality issues. However, can someone just give me a hint as to where I can *search* to find a bios? In particular, the 4977 for the X2.2Lite.

Damn, even some kind of hint would help, I can't seam to find it anywhere!

It's called google. Search for them " I want Xbox bios" Thats what i put and it took me ten mintues to find a site. Look at every one until u find a link to download. Also if you can find the newest Evox zip file it has bios in the file some where in the folder. I'm not sure but i think X2BM had 1 bio in there ehtier evox D.6 or X 4977 and slayers have bios in them too.

I have the Xecutor 2.2Lite (thought it was the 2.1, but the little box it came in said 2.2)

I have a few different BIOS' that I found on a site, I have these ready to use:

    x24977.rar
    - Which came with:
    - X2_4977.bin
    - make1mb.bat
    - x2_IGR_disabled
    - Xecuter2.Build.4977.nfo

    evod6blue.bin
    - Which was by itself

    x2497602blue.rar
    - Which came with
    - 4976.02_Blue_Noani.bin

What I'm not *entirely* sure I am doing right is the whole burn process, but I think is done right.

Cane someone please tell me if I should be using the OZXchip mehtod or just simply burning one of these BIOS' onto a CD-RW (with a zyx.dat (48mb) dummie file). Also, these BIOS' are originally 1024kb, can I just use them as is or should I be using x2bm.exe to create a new bios.bin file? There are so many methods I have read I'm not entirely sure which to use, but I can tell you this, I've tried every one of them at *LEAST* once!

Thanks for any help that can be given!!

    Ok, so here's another update.

Someone was finally able to offer up a suggestion that would once and for all determine what my problem was. Why I hadn't thought of this is beyond me, but I want to thank AceMiloX for the suggestion.

He had suggested that I try to burn a few songs to a CD-RW and play them from the MS Dash to see if the DVD-ROM drive might just be having an issue with my CD-RW's since I have begun noticing it's having problems with a few games too. And of course that was the problem, my "used" Xbox has a bad DVD-ROM (Thompson) drive in it and so tomorrow I will return it to the store I bought it from and go buy a *new* Xbox (getting a game this time with it too).

So, once I get this I will reinstall my X2.2Lite mod chip and try it all over again.

Would anyone have a suggestion as to a version of the Xbox to try to get? I know the v.1.3's are out there but are all the BIOS' and Dashboards compatiable with it yet? If not, should I still try to get one or should I look for a v.1.2?

Thanks for everyone's help on my problem and especially to AceMiloX for finally suggesting a method to help me determine what the problem was to being with!!

Thanks again, I'll keep you all updated :)

I had the same problem with my 1.0 Xbox and a Thomson drive. Its not that the drive is bad, but they dont (for the most part) read CD-R's or CD-RW's. What i did was get a Y-splitter (for power) and hook up a spare CD-ROM drive from my computer, and use it to read the CD-R(-RW), with the 4799 bios on it.

Then the ONLY thing that worked for me was to BURN THE BIOS AS A NORMAL DATA CD. I tried every app. i could get my hands on to burn/create ISO's ... but NONE of them worked. But the normal data cd worked first time.

Now my only problem is that with the regular cd-rom drive hooked up, it hangs at the Xecuter2 screen (under Xbox instead of M$)...and i cant get the dashboard installed. But it loads just like it should with the Thomson drive installed (orig. M$ dash), but it wont read the damned CD-RW's i have.

Oh well...my friend just got his Xbox, so i am in the process of talking him into letting me use his DVD drive (its a 1.2 or 1.3 xbox) to read the damned CD-RWs. But for some reason he is worried about me dismantling his new Xbox. hehe

I finally took out my mod chip lastnight, put everything back together and took it back to the store I got it from. I returnd the v.1.0 XboX and bought a new one with a Manfg. Date of 6/6/2003. If I'm not mistaken that is more than likely a v.1.3 It's got a Smasung DVD inside but only a 8gig HD. that's according to Western Digital techsupport according to the Model number. However, I tried that same CD-RW made with music on it and it worked perfectly right away. Even the problems I was having with Mechassault are not occuring anymore.

So, as soon as I get the mod chip installed (over the weekend probably) I'll try the flash again and I'm sure it'll work right away.

It did however cost me $40 extra but I also bought another Controler S and a memcard. It came with a Controller S of course and even my used one I returned came with the original big controller.

    Ya me!

IT WORKED IT WORKED IT WORKED!!!

Now I just ened to figure out why I can't get EvoX to install correctly....

I did as the instruction said and choose "Burn Image" from NERO. I burned the "EVOX_V1.8.3752.ISO" which consists of (evox.ini, default.xbe, abc.dat (50MB file) and the two folders for SKINS and BIOS).

Now I burned that .ISO file to a CD-RW but it's not booting. What's wrong now??

Actually I tried it a few times and we got it to work. I now have EvoX installed. I just need to figuree out why now I can't get my MS Dash to work. I followed all the instructions as to backing up the MS Dash so that I can get to it form EvoX and that works fine. But when I have my mod chip durned off and I boot up I get an error message saying I need to contact customer support.

Not that it's a huge deal, from what I can tell I only need the MS Dash to play Live but as of yet I have reason to.

Another question, what do I need to do with EvoX to allow normal DVD movie playback? I tried to put one in and select "Load DVD" (same as I need to do for some games) but it's almost like it reboots and then justtakes me back to the EvoX Dash. Nothing happens.

    Suggestions?

1 I'm guessing you got a HDD up grade. And that HDD is not locked. So with the chip off the rugaler bios won't read the new HDD. See your chip is what allows the xbox to use the new HDD. So with out the chip on the Xbox know that thats not the stock HDD. Don't worry about it leave your chip on and if you want to play Live game just swap HDD's. OR you can lock your up graded HDD but don't ask me i don't want to lock my HDD. Also I think you'll need Evox bios with the eject fix so it won't reset every thime you eject the tray.

No HDD upgrade yet, so that's not the problem.

Also, my xbox doesn't reset when I eject the tray, I have that fix anyway. the only time it "seams" to restart is when I put in a DVD movie and click on "Load DVD".

If I'm right, Evox changes the name of the MS Dash file. So you have to FTP to your xbox to change it back. You would then have to rename it in your evox.ini file so it loads from the Evox dash. Did that make sense?

    Spaceboy,

Actually you're wrong. Evox doesn't change anything on the XBOX. What you have to do to boot either the evox dash or the original MS dash is to label the evox dash file to "evoxdash.xbe" and leave the MS dash as "xboxdash.xbe". Once the modchip is on (loaded with x-ecuter 2 bios)...it will load up the evoxdash...and once its turned off, the XBOX will boot xboxdash.xbe. Hope this helps some of you understand how a modchip works.
