recently my stock hdd broke on my v1.1 xbox and i don't want to get rid my xbox. So i've been thinking about getting an xecuter 3 ce and a new hdd, If i get an 80gb seagate hdd will it still work for my xbox? if i use cromwell bios will i still be able to copy games to my hdd? and i've seen a bunch of other websites that said that you need Nero to burn the bios onto a cd-rw or a dvd-r in order to flash the bios onto the chip, is this true?

Yes, get the new hard drive, then purchase Xecuter 3 ce, install it. then flash it with the latest bios (i think the latest bios is 3294..or something like that. sorry been a while since I mod one.) not the cromwell bios. Then use the hard drive util and format the new hard drive, then you are good to go. Just use http method to flash your bios. You will need a router to connect your pc or laptop to xbox via Cat5 (ethernet cable)

    cheers

http flash does not require any dial up or internet connect. Just use your router and http from the laptop to the xbox. if you go to Xecuter Team website, there is a tutorial on this regarding flashing the bios.

It takes about 1 minute to complete the flashing using http.

After you have installed the Xecuter 3 ce chip, then turn on your xbox, there you will see the standard cromwell bios. It will have the option of ftp or http. select this and it will attempt to connect to your router. If you set the router to DHCP (assign IP automactically, then it should work nicely; but if your router is set to static ip which is each device connect to the router must have its own ip address, then you will have to do a little more configuration), from there you can following the tutorial and flash the bios from your laptop.

Here are things that you need to have for this:
    1. router (connect to laptop and xbox via cat5 cables)
    2. xbox connect to router
    3. laptop connect to router
    4. bios (3294 of for xbox version 1.1 - 1.6; 3294_plus for xbox version 1.6b)

    cheers

    1. google for MIRC
    2. download it and connect to it
    3. when ask for channel/room, type #xbins => this will take you to xbins channel
    4. follow the instructions on the screen to get login and password so that you can ftp and get the dash and bios
    5. use ftp pro or flashfxp programs and ftp to the given ftp address and use the login and password given by xbins
    6. go to dashboard folder and download evox dash
    7. go to bios folder and download the xecuter bios

These are the simple steps that I remember and you should be able to find it. If you can't do these simple steps, then you are out of luck! Because it has been working for me.

    cheers
