hi, I have tried on a Fiujitshu Siemens Scaleo PIII 850 Mhz, 64MB RAM (PC133U), 20 GB Maxtor EIDE 5400RPM UDMA 100, 16 MB AGP Video to make a clean instal of XP Home or Pro. I have partioned the hard drive to NTSF in full, and started the installation program, which ran ok till after reboot, when getting this error: cyclic redundancy check error and then fatal error that could not load asms from I386. Now I can't go back to unistal XP or to continue to instal XP in full, in order to make a new partition format ie FAT and to install Win 98SE on the hard drive first. Please advise

@vasile As far a s i know your disc is damaged and need cleaning thats bout it. How are u trying to boot the system up?? with the CD or with a boot disc?? If the CD does not work straigh for you try using a start up disc. Its done that b4 for me and i fixed it and continued with it using a start up boot disc. I thought that XP uses more ram than you have for your system. Definately up your ram, even if it is enough for WinXP you won't have enough for anything else.
have requested thread be teleported to relevant forum. sounds like install is playing up or cd drive is having a problem..
need at least 128meg of ram to work properly. if wanting to delete the partition to load win98, boot off win9x boot disk without cdrom support. at the a: type fdisk & y for large size drive. select #3 to delete partition & select nondos partition. once that is done than select #1 to make primary partition & y for full size. after that is done, reboot with cdrom support, format the hd & load win98.
