I'm exporting a long(1hr+) video from Avid Free, and I'm trying to do it as an XviD file. Up until about a week ago, it was exporting fine. Then, when I went to export this video, the encoding status window never came up, and the resulting filesize was huge(2GB@19.5 mins). After that, no matter what bitrate i throw at it, the video file always ends up a big blocky mess. I tried fiddling around with every setting, but nothing worked. So i exported a shot portion as full frame uncompressed video, and tried convering it in Virtualdub, but the results were the same. So next I uninstall virtually every video codec on the machine and restart, then renistall the codec pack. Xvid gives me the same errora. On a whim, I try converting the full frame render to DivX and and it too is horribly blocky, no matter the bitrate. Right now, I'm really at a loss as to what to try next. The source is camcorder footage, interlaced, and I'm using the Cole2k advanced Media Codec pack. Any ideas would be very much appreciated. Thanks.
First thing I would do is get rid of the codec pack. Make sure that all registry settings, etc. are clean, then install XviD and load the default settings.
