Hi, I want to convert a xvid movie to a dvd-r to play in my home dvd player. I followed A guide on this, but im a bit stuck. I ran the original xvid avi through VituaDub, from there I took a Direct Stream of Video to an avi file (so it had no sound). I then took saved a uncompressed wav of the movie soundtrack. I then brought both of these files into MainConcepts MPEG Encoder to create one MPEG2 movie which has sound and video, this plays fine. How do I now get this MPEG2 file onto a playable DVD-R? I used TMPGenc Author, which created a set of Vob files and I tried burning this to a dvd-r. Unfortunately the dvd that was burned did not play in my pc or my home player. I did this in Nero Burning ROM Version 6.0.0.0. I am burning using a Medion DVD Burner (I believe it has Pioneer parts) and using Tevion DVD-Rs that have been fine with Data Storage for PC. Is there any other way to do it? Im not after a flashy menu, but I would like a set of chapters to run through. Id appreciate all help! Thanks a lot, this is a fab forum. M
hasnt the tmpgenc dvd author got a burning tool on it, think it has try that, Also my be a stupid question, you did burn the video_ts folder, not just the vob files onto the disc. _ _X_X_X_X_X_[small]a wise man one said...........[/small]
An error happened saying burning tool failed within TMPEG Author. So all i did was drag the two folder Audio_TS and Video_TS into the nero DVD project, thus replacing the two folders it puts there in its template. There were no files in the audio_TS folder, but ive heard this is normal.
I am not a nero expert unforunately you will have to look for a detailed guide, have you tryed playing dvd from your hard drive first, I have powerdvd which lets you do this, enabling to check that authoring has worked before burning onto a disc. Also how old is you dvd player as some of the very early ones wont play dvd-r but as its not playing on your pc either probably rule that out. You could just try added the vob files into nero (as nero probalby creates a video_ts file anyway). Sorry i couldnt be more helpful.
Unfortunately I did that and it didnt work. So I still have this MPEG2 file and I need to know the next steps to put it on DVD. Please help!
freeeky2, You are most of the way there - Use TMPGEnc DVD Author to take your MPEG files and convert to VOB's. Then take the VOB's etc. that you created, put them all in a folder named (all in "caps" like this) VIDEO_TS and burn with Nero in the classic mode using these directions - A 30 day, free, fully functional Nero 6 download can be had here: http://www.nero.com/us/631939541422774.php Step by Step – Do not use Nero Wizard. When you open Nero Burning ROM, you will be at the “New Compilation” window. Directly under the title “New Compilation” is a choice block to choose either DVD or CD, choose DVD. Directly under that click on the DVD Video Icon. Then click “New” in the upper right corner of that screen, NOT the main screen. You now are in the DVD Video window. In the left screen, click VIDEO_TS. In the File Browser screen, 3rd from the left, trace your path to the VIDEO_TS folder holding your work and click on that folder. All of your VIDEO_TS files are now opened in the right screen. Click on the top file, hold down the “Shift” key and then click the bottom file thereby hi-lighting the entire column of files. Click and (holding the left mouse button down) drag the entire column of files to the open screen, second from the left. Now click the icon on the task bar that shows a match on a disc, and then click “Burn” and Baby, Scream it to me, Who’s your Daddy Now ??? (Wheeew, Now I need a cigarette) Guess what my Friend ?? Go watch some TV, call your mother (It’s been awhile since she’s heard from you, don’t ya know? J) You are done !!! Keep all fingers and toes away from Mr. Computer. Never mess with the lady when she’s working – it would be a health thing, you understand - Go and have your coffee, when Nero is done she will let you know ;-)) Enjoy, “P”
Another way which I have had much success is to BAG TMPGEnc Author and obtain DVD Lab for your authoring. It has an easy interface and if you want you can add quite a few bells and whistles to your DVD altho you don't have to, a generic can easily be made. DVD Lab also has a burning tool but I haven't had much success with that. If you have Nero and want an easy way to burn, ImgTool Burn is a simple program and FREE I think it's been a while since I got it. A few clicks and your DVD burns nicely. Just install ImgTool after Nero it will use Nero's burning engine but the interface in ImgTool is VERY simple to use. _X_X_X_X_X_[small]Tom USA[/small]
