Hi :) I have a DVD Recorder (Philips, not sure about the model) and it plays DivX files. This may be a bit of a "noobish" question, but would this DivX player also play XviD files, or will I have to convert from XviD to DivX? If so, what's the best way to convert to DivX from XviD?

    Thanks,
    Stealth

Silly question maybe but have you tried playing a disk, Phillips is known for playing everything, all formats, try it first

Look in player's insteuction manual. Not every player plays XviD, too. Tima ago, DivX was the most used AVI format; now XviD is becoming much more popular, nowadays, and a compatibility test is advisable, before buying a brand new player (but you already bought it, dont you?).

Ah, yes, I forgot this opportunity. Also, in Xvid instalation directory there is a program called AviC.exe which performs the same job.
