    Hi
been making the effort to try and encode to both Xvid & X264.Just a question on this matter.

    1) is there a set time for encoding of either Xvid or X264 for say a 1 Hr 30 Min movie target size 700 - 800 Mbit.? As in how long should the average film that long take to convert to either 700-800Mbit File.

    Thanks

It depends entirely on the capabilities of your PC.
    Faster CPU, dual-core, more memory, etc,etc -
All of these speed up the processing.

Your question is completely without context, because you neither state
the times you're getting, nor do you mention your PC
    configuration.

    I have a modest machine, dual core AMD x2 4200 (2.2G Hz)
    2 GB of memory. I can encode a movie perhaps 30 - 45 minutes.
    (single pass Constant Quality)

Not really, 2 pass encoding is basically used to hit a specified size.
