I think you need a video converter first first, then burn dvd with nero.

    Hi,

If you have the full version of nero then you can use nero vision express (nero vision4 if using version 7)and it will convert the xvid to dvd compliant files which then can be burned to dvd. Keep in mind that the encoding process can be time consuming depending on your system specs. If the output file is larger than 4.3g I would suggest running it through nero recode2 to shrink it down to fit on a regular blank dvd. In the event you do not have a full version of nero then yes you will need a converter like divxtodvd then burn with nero.

http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/272946 there is a link with visual walkthroughs you can use as a reference covering avi to dvd.
