seems people are very concerned about CPU and motherboard cooling, but many people overlook the most temperature sensitive component of their system....their HDD. What is the best monitoring software(IYO) for protecting a HD? Besides the investment in cooling fans, etc.
To check your HD temperature at a glance using freeware use everest home edition http://www.majorgeeks.com/download4181.html The program I use to monitor the condition/temperatures of my hard drives is hddlife pro, it will sound an alarm if your hard drives get too hot. Your correct about the hard drives being very temperature sensitive, I try to keep mine under 50 celcius at all times. I have small hard drive fans, screwed to the bottom of each of my hard drives(they reduce the temperature 5 to 10 degrees). The way I look at it, spending $10.00 on a hard drive fan is a very good investment.
