i was messing around in my dashboard(EvoX) and i noticed your able to read the files off of the cd and your able to copy them back and forth to different drives. so i tried something, i grabbed a cd-r with KawaX and my super nintendo games and i treid to copy it over to my emulator folder. IT WORKED, i never had to ftp, now i jsut gotta buy some CD-Rw's. now im not saying this is the best way to get files to your xbox, im jsut saying for people who have trouble FTPing to there computer(like me), this is the next best thing.
Good find ! ..//.. I am one of those guys that can't FTP files to my Xbox , but i'll learn if it kills me :/
Pittfan - Burning a CD or DVD is great, but it takes a lot longer than a simple FTP session. While it may be a good idea if your PC is not in a place where you can network it to your Xbox, or say your buddy doesn't have a PC, it involves a lot more steps than you need to go through. While my laptop was in repair, I kept a spare power cable and avi cable next to my PC in my office. I would just pull my xbox out of my entertainment center (and not have to fish out the cables) and go hook it up. You have to have some kind of video cable plugged in for the Xbox to boot up (only on the back of the Xbox). You also must have the PC booted up before you turn on the Xbox, or sometimes you won't be able to ping it. Anyway... Here is a really easy way to FTP without using any of the fancy FTP programs out there. All you need is Internet Explorer. Power up your PC with a x-over cable plugged into the PC and the Xbox. Make sure you know your Xbox's ip and sub; also make sure you know your Xbox'x default gateway. The default gateway will be the IP that you give your PC's NIC -- the sub will be the same. Power up your Xbox with the PC booted. Click the START button - Run - and type CMD. When at the command prompt, type "ping 192.168.1.32" (or whatever you set your Xbox'x IP to). When you get successful pings, open up internet explorer and type the following into the address bar and press enter: ftp://xbox:xbox@192.168.1.32 Xbox is the default user name and password and the IP is whatever you gave your console. (ftp://usernameassword@192.168.1.32) when you hit enter, the Xbox's HD will be a browsable explorer window, just like your PC's HD. Click and Drag, baby.
Ok, I'm gonna try this soon as I get a x-over cable (I'm sure I'll figure it out , I hope ) . Thanks for the the Reply and I hope it works . P.S. Do I still need a Hub for a crossover cable ? .. Thanks Pitt (UPDATE ) I have been doing some research and I Understand what a Crossover cable Is/Does Now .. I'll get a Cat 5 Cable tomorrow and try a FTP to Xbox . Again Thanks for the Help
