Hi, I am trying to save video files from you tube on to my PC's hardrive. I've been trying to do it throigh www.savetube.com but once movie has been dowbnloaded and save, when I try to open it i get a message saying "windows cannot open this file file - filename To open this file, windows needs to know what program created it. Windows can go online to look for this automatically, or you can manually select from a list of programmes on your computer. What do you want to do? - Use the web service to find the appropriate program - Select the program from a list." When I try the first option nothing happens!! anyone help?
try downloading it to your HD using videodownloader - firefox add-ons. I guess once you download from youtube the filename is different and windows player could not play it. Maybe you need to convert the file first to something that can be played in win media player.
cheers... I wanna download files from you tube to put on my NOKIA N91... following that link, would I choose Converts to: 3GP for mobile (MPEG4 + AAC)?
I use KeepVid to download YouTube's video's to my hard drive. You copy and paste the URL to the search bar looking thing then select "YouTube" from the right dropdown menu. It then pulls up a link you can click on to save the files to your hard drive. They are in flv format, which is flash but you can use Videora iPod Converter to convert them for my 'Pod. Not sure what other programs could convert flash to 3gm (phone) or mp4 (video file, for video iPods, Creative's video MP3 player etc). The quailty isn't too bad that Videora puts out though.
Hey Pop, have tried using that and when I try to play the FLV file through FLV Player 1.3.3, nothing happens!! Also does anyone know how to get the FLV file changed so it can be played on my NOKIA? starting to get frustrated :-(
@burkey83, VLC Player which you can get here plays FLV files. I use Videora iPod Converter, which you can download here to convert FLVs to MP4s.
