the box in the first link is an mx2 which is the same box i have , its a good box in my opinion , and will do all you need . but of course there are newer models .

i think the wireless keypad dongles are pretty much universal to all android boxes so any one that you buy should suffice .

I had to plug in the old wired usb mouse in order to get the boot menu to do anything, for some reason my wireless mouse isn't working on the box anymore but I was able to reset it and get it all going with my wired mouse. thank you very much guys. Just wondering when I boot it again with the toothpick the bot it still laying down and says no command? does that mean there's still something wrong? Also wondering i've read the mx box is capable of 2gb ram but mine only have 1gb is that something i can upgrade? all my boxs are on the 4.2.2. firmware, should I upgrade them to 4.4?

if the problem persists as it appears to be then something else is wrong . if the box is currently working then it may simply be a firmware issue . i think it best to stick with the same version of firmware that you currently have , download it if you can to an sd card . insert the card in the box and then use the toothpick to get the reset menu up . there should be an option there to upgrade firmware .

Leo t I have both type of mx boxes the mxq and mx111 the difference between
Both is the mx111 has 2gb ram compared to the mxq has only one gb , most box mobels have 1 gb and they work fine , but I do find with the 2 gb mx111 that it runs a bit smoother as in page turning , so if anyone is purchasing a mx box might be worth the extra for the 2gb model also I have an air remote that I bought for working with the boxes which has remote control on 1 side and key pad on the other side and comes with dongle , can be got as accessories when buying boxes , works great when inputting urls and navigating , as piopat says if you can get it running with the firmware installed you be OK , if not you can upgrade the firmware , no need to change if you get it running , lol
    Cheers

The box now wants to keep resetting within the first couple on minutes of turning it on as soon as I try to do anything like open play store or kodi it loads it for a minute and then resets the whole box? where can I find the firmware for it? its now showing a different model in the system settings then it was the other day when i posted on page 19 of this thread

Winds when you say tv file do you mean tv addons /repos , if your box came loaded you have tv channels in pheonix, UK turks , robinhood , can also go the iptv route most users of andriod boxes keep at least basic tv providers , as in my own case I have combo tv box hooked up to sly dish for fta/saorview so have no bills I use the mxbox for films, box sets, sly sports etc

CRazylife its really personal opinion on box preferences , most andriod are much the same as 1gb ram 8gb storage and most now come preloaded with apps and latest version of kodi 15.2 isengard , if as I say the one I opt for is the mx111 because it has 2gb ram and most boxes come with latest 4.4 firmware , depending on what you can afford checkout the link below , comes with mini keypad included in price .
    Cheers

Just joined, dinnerbreak at work, read the tut and learned a bit about these boxes already...thanks. Got a few questions though for future, first though... i keep getting 'Brazilian repository update/add on failed' literally every 2 minutes at bottom right of screen, how do i stop this because it must be affecting things cos the working wheel is constantly turning when the message comes up. Any ideas how to resolve it? Thanks.

Sorry... Its a mxq box, 1g ram, 8g hdd, 4.4.2., kodi isengaard,

Upar if its an addons you want to delete in kodi go to video /video addons , you should now see a list of your installed addons , scroll down to the one you want to delete highlight it blue ( do not open it ) Press the blue button on remote , a drop down box should now open up whit options , open add on information , should now see the option to uninstall , click on the uninstall option ..

If it a repo you want to uninstall , go to programes and open , go to maintainence tool and open , go to general maintainence, go to repo removal, highlight the repo , you might need a usb keypad to double click on repo to remove ......
Word of warning when removing repos be careful their could be other addons within that repo that you want to keep ,
Ps you can also read piopats newbies guide and gives great advice on andriod boxes lol ........
    Cheers

Thanks paulie, on my add ons page theres no 'Brazilian' anything, and if i go to programmes in kodi, i only have 3 options...android apps, program add ons, add source.....thats it.

Message keeps saying brazilian xmbc repository update failed.

Bought box fully loaded but most of the stuff on it don't seem to work, only phoenix and sports devil are consistent, and last night sportsdevil was unwatchable ( l'pool v arsenal), keptbuffering and freezing. How do i see what repositories ive got? Feel like wiping it clean and just putting on what you and piopat suggest.

Upar the maintainance tool is probly not installed , if you go to programmes, open programe addons , should now have a list if maintenance tool is not on the list go to the bottom and you see get more open that you will get a longer list go down the list to maintainence tool and click on it and install , once it's enabled go back to main screen , go to programmes again and open , go to programe addons , maintainance tool and open , then follow post above post
A lot of the boxes come preloaded with rubbish addons , I skin the box down by deleteing addons that don't work , makes the box run a lot smoother
For the footie I use pheonix /UK turks
Also I'm tryin out a new build called the blackbox on ipad, testing it out before I put in to my boxes

Perfect paulie!!!!! Thanks...the Brazilian thing is deleted.

On the repo removal list, theres 13 in the list, none of em ring any bells from whats been recommended in this tut, what repos do you recommend.. And should i delete the rest that dont match your choices? Sorry if its a bit vague... First 5 in the list are...
    Tvaddons.ag
    Kinkins repo
    Nickats kodi addon repo
    Eldorados xmbc addons
    Lambda addon repo

    Hope im making sense!!

Ya makes perfect sense upar, kinking, lambada, eldorado are all excelent repos so keep them
Not to sure about nickats ,
You can now slim the box down by going to video , video addons you will see the the list of the addons that are installed , any one that doesn't work or you don't need you can uninstall by following the above post , you probly have genesis for movies , check in your video addons do you have these two s.a.l.t.s. and the royal we , both are for movies and tv , and for fottie ukturks , if you do not have them check out the link below , go half way down the page and you see ( check out my other kodi posts ) click on kodi and gives you all the steps how to put them in to your box , but as I say uninstall the addons you don't Frant first , I myself have only about 12 working addons , some for films, football, TV , makes your box run a lot smoother , let us know how you get on . Happy viewing lol
    Cheers

Upar forgot to add don't be to worried about the repos , you can leave them , because some of them can carry addons you want to keep , it easier as I say above to uninstall the addons you don't want
    Cheers....
