Is it ok to keep asking questions in this tutorial thread? If so...

Whats navi-x for?.. And do I need it or is it ok to get rid?

Is there a way of upscaling streams to higher/better definition? (Say im watching a stream from a hd channel but its really bad?)

I might be getting my wires crossed here but.... If ive only got say 10 addons in video, do i need to have so many repos (repos contain the addons,is thatright?) on my list?

Upar navix is a addon that contains a multitude of guys with their own addons within as tv, films and pages upon pages of streams , have it installed but don't really use it much it's a bit hit and miss , when you go to the opening page , gives you option for , extreme portal 7 days, extreme portal 24 hours , but a lot of the streams don't work,
A repos contains the addons , if you want delete repos , be carefull with the one you're deleteing they could contain an addon you want to keep , if your go to programmes, addon installer , repository, you get list of repos, you can open any one of them to see what addons they have , I don't bother deleting repos , because the
addons in them ,I don't have installed , I delete the addons I don't want ....
As for picture quality, when you say bad do you mean picture quality or buffering , in that case I go back and pick a different stream .........

Thanks paulie. Ye ive figured out if you highlight a addon and press menu button, addon info, it tells you the author so i know which repo it came from.

On phoenix for instance, it has 3 different authors/repos, so if i delete 2 of the said repos, will phoenix still work ok because the 3rd repo is still installed?

Ye just meant picture quality in general, very pixelly, no prob ill just change stream. Paulie do you find ukturks ok for football? I thought it wasnt as good picture as i can find through sportsdevil.

 

Upar as I was saying earlier ,this is were you have to be careful ,, pheonix would be best left alone , because it comes within fusion and across two addons xbmchub/ tv addons. Ag ,

As for ukturks in the main it's normally good , but yes I do prefer sportsdevil , I Watch the footie on nbcsport in sportsdevil same games as sly ,different comintary, can't stand that neville fella does my head in .

Thanks Paulie, ill leave em then, was just thinking along the lines of the less things installed it should run better but i dont wanna risk any bother. Ill have a look for nbcsport, ive only got about 8 addons in video now, the wwe one was a stroke of luck, my lads buzzing with it, hope it lasts.

Is it ok to change the time on the mxq box? Mines set at -5hrs, but ive noticed some of the schedules in the addons correspond with the system time at -5hrs. Hate looking at clocks with the wrong time on!

 

Upar if you go to your main apps look for settings ( icon with the cog )) open that and scroll over to OTHERS (yellow box) under others you see two options go to ( more settings ) and open , you should now have long list , scroll down near the bottom you see date and time you can open that to adjust date and time , also on that page you have your data usage wifi settings , storage usage , apps etc .
Ps a tip from piopats guide in kodi every now and then clear you cache , will help run kodi better , to do so open kodi ,go to programes , maintainance tool , general maintainence , you should see the option to clear cache , click on that , clear cache yes ...
Ya to many addons installed just slows it down as in space and ram , once you uninstall the addons you don't want it will be OK

All running fine at moment paulie, changed time, emptied cache, watched insidious 2 and 3 this week, thanks for all your help so far.

In video addons i have youtube, it says i cant delete it cos other addons use it, is that right?

Also I have youtube in the app drawer on the box itself, so thats 2 different youtubes on my box, but both of them are the old style icon, not the updated 'play button' red nwhite icon that youtube is now, why is that? Is yours like that?

Also, in music, what are the addons worth having, do you bother with the music section at all?

Upar ya need to keep u tube , but if you want you can install new version from google app store , as for music i don't use any music I dumped them ,

Guys as you all probly know genesis is winding up , seems the guys who run it are going their separate ways , theirs a new addon on the screen at the moment , velocity to take genesis place by metalkettle/blazer , have have been checking it out now for the last couple days and it's a worthy replacement ........

the version of youtube that runs in kodi is different to the android app version that comes with the box by default , the app version is an official addon . but the kodi version is unofficial , there are some youtube videos i have tried to view on my laptop and cant because some videos are geo locked . that means only people in a certain country can view them , for example some videos can only be viewed in the usa , dont really know why this should have to be done on a free video site but it does happen . but anyway the unofficial kodi youtube versions seems to play any video from anywhere .

yes some other addons may use youtube , meaning addons can have many sources and addons do use youtube as a source as its got so much free content on it , movies / tv shows / documentaries / music etc etc . you can remove youtube if you wish but as your box said one or more of your addons seems to use it to show some videos , so if you delete the youtube addon some videos on one or more of your other addons wont work . personally i love youtube , i watch many great documentaries from it , and also i get great music / music videos on it . also as i said its got the world of movies and tv shows .

 

entertainment hub is pretty good also , in fact the entertainment hub repo has some very good addons in it .

 

Just tried the wwe addon from muckys and its not working, first time its failed. What happens when addons stop...will it be updated or will it be redundant now? Thanks.

Hiya piopat, are you in uk? I tried it about 9ish last night, lad wanted watch wrestling before bed, every time i tried it i got a red X and ( log error) or (system error check log) or something like that with a blip sound in bottom right of screen. Ill try again after work. Thanks!

 

no im across the water in ireland . what isp are you using ? . that means what internet service provider (isp) do you use ? .

the first thought is that your isp could be blocking you accessing the site . but first you need to check that its not just a glitch in the box etc . so click on the following link and see if you can view the watch wrestling club site

if you can access the site from the above link then your isp is not blocking you . if you cant access the site then either your being blocked or perhaps some setting on your router such as parental settings is blocking you . if it turns out that its your isp blocking you installing a free vpn from google playstore may get round it .

but it may just be a router setting of some sort that you can adjust or disable DEPENDING ON WHAT ISP YOU USE .

the following link lists the major uk isps and gives instructions to adjust your router settings , as i say it may just be a setting on your router thats the issue . i know a guy that had problems and the problem was related to the router settings . so its worth trying this as it may work . but if not on your box install a free vpn from playstore .

sorry i just noticed that you said above that ITS THE FIRST TIME THE ADDON FAILED . so does that mean you had it working untill recently ? . if so how recent ? . what version of the addon have you got ? , i have version 101 , i assume that to be the latest version . did you install the addon direct from muckyduck repo or from a zip file that you downloaded ? . if you installed from muckys repo then you should have the same version as me unless for what ever reason you didnt get an update .

to answer your question yes you should receive updates for addons automatically if they are installed from the correct repos . this addon is made by muckyduck and originates in his repo , but you may be able to get the addon in say super repo but they may not have the latest version . thats why where ever possible its best to install the correct repos and install your addons from them .

lastly is it the addon that is giving an error or is it sources in the addon ? , sources go down etc hence the need for addon makers to do updates .what you have to remember is that a lot of these addons simply clone a particular site , the site owners may be aware of this and want to stop it , so then they change some code on the site or change how sources are accessed or something like that , then the addon wont work right . so this is one good reason why we should ensure we install the correct repos where possible to ensure we always get updates . so with any addon you can find that certain sources (links ) dont work or give an error . when i tested the wrestling addon i had to select 3 sources before i got the video to play .

 

Hiya piopat, thanks forquick reply. Im at work so won't be home till teatime to check the link with my isp. Im with virgin by the way. Ye the wwe addon is from muckys repo, i was following paulies guide for installing 123movies from muckyduck when i saw the wwe addon in his list so i added that too and worked fine till last night. Its on the page with all the different wrestling options that it fails.... Wwe,tna,nacho libre,wrestlemanias,wrestling ppvs,etc. Ill try it as soon as i get in and report back. That vpn stuff is all new to me....hope its working haha. Thanks.

Ye, last night was the first time it didnt work since i installed it sbout a week or 2 ago!

 

no worries .

vpn is just software that you install in your box , and to put it simply it sort of tricks your router into thinking your not in the uk but another country . as your in the uk and with virgin that means you have a virgin uk ip address . virgin will block all virgin uk ip addresses from accessing specific sites . so when you install vpn software in your box , you switch it on and select a country (any country except uk may do ) then your box will not have a virgin uk ip , it will have an ip address from what ever country you selected . as long as that country doesnt block access to a specific site you should then be able to access it with your box . so as your with virgin uk you likely cant view content from icefilms or 1channel addons (and maybe others) , but by switching on the vpn as i said above you stop having a uk ip and get an ip from a different country , so then (in theory atleast ) you should be able to use those addons . when you dont need the vpn simply switch it off and your ip address will revert back to your real virgin uk ip .

obviously if you use the vpn and say have a usa ip and then you for example try to view bbc player well you wont then be able to access the bbc player content as the bbc will think your in the usa , so then you would need to have the vpn switched off so that the bbc sees your real virgin ip .

 

Thanks for that. Ive been half expecting i might get problems because i used to download films and ufc events (torrents) till virgin scuppered it a year or 2 ago so was expecting these boxes could be prone to similar actions.

Sounds like i might have to go down the vpn road, that's another learning curve!

Anyway..looks like that greedy *****rd branson has shafted me again, just tried box and all addons in kodi are not working, looks like I'm gonna have to go vpn. I dont know anything about em...is there a specific one i should get, and wheres the best place to get one. Thanks!
