yes google playstore has lots of free vpn , just go to playstore and in the search box type in free vpn . hidden ninja is not bad . but if your not happy with a free vpn you can pay for vpn , its not expensive , hotspot shiled for example i think is about £20 a year .

vpn is not hard really . once its installed you just open it , select a country (excluding uk for obvious reasons lol ) and then start it , usually you actually see the word START and you select it , then it says STOP and you select stop to switch the vpn off . its just software that you switch on and off as you need it .

if your downloading torrents or visiting torrent sites i would say its best to use a vpn for security .

it would be hard to imagine that virgin has blocked all of your addons , maybe the box isnt connecting to the internet ? . close kodi , shut down the box and then unplug it , now plug it back in and start it up and open kodi and try the addons again . are you connecting to the router via wifi ? or ethernet cable ? . if your using wifi how far away is your box from the router ? , some android boxes can be poor on wifi at the best of times especially if the box is a distance from the router . i would say a distance of 15 feet or so from the router maybe 20 max is best , if your box is beyond that distance your box may lose the signal .

was just about to say the same not all addons are blocked, you should be able to at least get phoenix working with out making any changes, do as piopat says, you could even try and see if youtube is working outside of kodi, it sounds like you have lost connection to web

if you know you way round repos you are now getting to grips with the box, you should have a look at installing the black box as paulie mentioned a few pages back, probably be best of with a keyboard to install this as you have a few bits to type/change symbols etc, here's the tut,(http://tutorial-iptv-xbmc.blogspot.co.uk/2015/09/the-black-box-build-wizard-add-on-for.html) . once you play about with these boxes you get more and more confident, and it seems like you are getting there

Hi Piopat and all contributors! Thanks for this informative document!!
I'm a new Adroid Tv box user - MXQ. Is it possible to connect an external hard drive to the box to use it as a media player? Right now it doesn't seem possible. I have a ton of movies on it for my kids. Kodi on my mac can pick it up no problem but the box doesn't seem to recognise any external usb, even a flash drive. Does the drive need to be formatted into some specific format?? My external HDD is HFS+ and flash drive is exFat.

Hope you guys can shed some light...

Hello fellas, a couple or 3 questions. Is sportsdevil down, couldnt find football tonight, 'web stream unavailable' on the one i always use.
Just tried to install the blackboxwizard and after inputting details on file manager page it says unable to connect, so when i go to install zip file page nothing happens.
Just installing coldasice/gentec but when i go back to addons its showing as gentec and saying i need to install gentecwizard, just done that and it advised me to force close kodi by pulling the plug out. Done so and now all my kodi has changed, whats happening??????

My kodi has gone weird, its not loading up as isengard15.2, its all different since i did the cold as ice install as per tutorial, this gentec thing seems to have taken over. I don't like sudden changes....is this normal or has something bad happened????

Sportsdevil no longer working, rockcrusher has gone from phoenix, my addons page is now full of things that dont work and getting red crosses and things failing to update. How can i wipe the boxclean and go back to isengard, id just got my addons page down to bare essentials and now its full of guff. I dont like whats happened one bit. Are you all running this cold.as.ice new setup?

Upar I don't have the gentec , but I think what you have now is a build , as in the tbb is a build , the builds come with there own addons within kodi , plus all the usual ones , as in sportsdevil , pheonix and so on , what the build does is give you a different screen as in skins and layout , you can delete any addon that you don't want , I have the tbb build ,running on mxbox , and spjnztv build on my ipad , just tryin them out , if your not keen on the one you have , if you dont have backup You can start afresh , you don't need to wipe your box clean as factory reset , just kodi , by going to settings on main app page , in settings , go to others , more settings , scroll down to apps and open , scroll down to kodi and can delete , uninstall , once done
You can reinstall kodi from kodi downloads via Google or play store , i use playstore myself you will be starting again from start as in inputting your addons again , one of the guys here might have an easier way of doing it
    Cheers ..........
