melody everything that operates inside of kodi are addons , so if you see the word addon you should be able to take it as red that its a kodi addon and works insde kodi .

android apps (applications ) work outside of kodi . all android boxes have apps such as google and facebook and google maps and google playstore etc etc and these are android apps , the two apps i mentioned (uktv now and world sport streams ) are android apps and they work outside of kodi . kodi itself is an android app but as i say you put addons inside it .

i hope that helps melody .

    Thanks piopat - very helpful.
Today i managed to install Op Robocop and also Live Mix.

Was disappointed with Robo as most of the streams are not working!

On the other hand Live mix is very good Imho.

    I'll check again tonight.

as i said when you include all the android stuff and kodi etc it would be around 3 or maybe 4 gb , and as you have 1gb or so free in your hard disk drive thats about right . thats not great but you still be able to view stuff with that .

also if im reading this right you have very little memory left . my box has 8gb hard disk drive and 1gb memory and my kodi is quite full but i still have a third or so of my memory free .

if you only have 3.8mb memory free that is likely whats wrong . you mention downloading to a usb stick , have you been downloading stuff straight to the box ? . if so that would be a no no as you just dont have the hard disk drive or memory space in the box .

you could clear a little hard disk drive space by deleting any unused / unwanted android apps , but that wont get you a lot of space , you have 1.4gb free and i doubt even removing all apps would bring you up to 2gb . but as i say 1.4gb all be it small compared to some boxes should be ok as long as you try to keep it about where it is .

now before we talk about kodi are there any android apps that you use a lot ? such as google or facebook etc ? , if so could clear the data for all these apps to claw back some space . you see all these apps take up space and constantly store data be that passwords and usernames or otherwise , and it builds up , kodi data also can build up quite quickly . the trouble is that if you delete data you lose everything saved in the app , that wouldnt be so bad with google as it just records your history and saves cookies and passwords etc , with facebook it would remove everything inside the app but it wont do anything to your facebook page so dont worry . now you may not even use any of these apps , im just trying to cover all bases thats all . if you clear all kodi data that would erase all your addons and settings , it wont erase kodi just what ever is saved in it . as it came pre loaded im betting its full of junk , and given that the memory capacity of the box is smaller the box seller shouldnt have filled it up .

so you probably have little option but to clear the data on kodi which will mean kodi has no addons , i wouldnt say do this unless there was no other way and there really isnt . it will mean you lose all your addons in kodi , but as i say that may be a good thing . as now you can install only repos and addons that you want .

my advice is write down the names of the kodi addons that you like / use most , then we can clear the kodi data cache and you will clear a good bit of memory , your hard disk drive is not so bad its the memory which is seperate that is the problem . then you can install a few repos and from hem you can install addons and go from there . its not hard at all , i know it will seem as tho it is but trust me once you learn it you will understand that it is quite easy . we can help you here with all of this stuff . after that then you can install a special app called clean master , run that say once a week or what ever and it will detect any junk / unneeded stuff in your box and it will let you delete it , so its good for clearing space . also i mentioned kodis data cache (all android apps have one ) well kodi (and all android apps ) have a regular cache also , this is different to the data cache , when you can clear the regular cache of all apps that you use you wont lose anything , all clearing the regular cache does is clear out rubbish . clearing the regular caches for all used apps wont clear a huge amount of memory now but hey any memory you can keep clear is good when you have so little t spare . talk soon

yes mate HD content requires pretty fast broadband speeds . i know people that have about 100 mb speeds but they only use their box wirelessly and they get buffering and freezing on some high quality content . ive explained to them the problem .which is that when you connect your laptop or box or what ever to your router wirelessly you dont get the full speeds . for example my speeds (officially ) are 100mb but i get in the region of about 90 mb . now if i connect my box to my router using an ethernet cable ( this is what you mean by hard wired ) my box gets the full 90mb of speed , and even then some content buffers lol . but the problem with wifi is that you only get about a quarter of your speed . if you have a full 100mb speed when wired well when you are operating wirelessly you only get at max about 25mb . i have 90 mb when connected up via ethernet , but when i connect wirelessly i only have about 18 or 19 mb speeds . so if you can connect via ethernet you should .

i know for some that having an ethernet cable is not possible due to distance between the router and box etc . homeplugs (or similar ) are the answer (they come in twos ) . a home plug looks like a plug , you connect a short ethernet cable to it , then you plug it in and connect the ethernet cable to the router . you connect the other homeplug to the box in the same way and then plug it in . what this does is the internet signal from the router is sent all around your house via the power sockets and electrical cabling . so you should then get all or most of your top internet speed without having to run any long cables .

read what i said to scally above and check your hard disk drive memory and your regular memory , and tell me what they are . but a full memory wont make channels buffer and freeze , they wouldnt open at all .

I've learnt lots from people here so Thanks - and i'm not using this box for FB and i'm happy only with 5 or 6 Addons in Kodi, the rest i feel are useless and i could Uninstall them. I'm happy with Exodus/Phoenix/Live Mix/Njm and maybe 2 more so i want to uninstall.

    1) Is this the procedure to Uninstall addons in Kodi :
    Kodi
    settings
    others
    more settings
    Apps
    open
    delete

    2) And is this the procedure to Uninstall Apps:
    Settings
    other
    more settings
    apps
    choose app
    uninstall
    ok

    3) and can i do the above without any problems after uninstalling please?

    4) Last question please - i know how to delete the regular cache but where do i find the OTHER Memory and can i just delete it too?

    Thank you friends:)

ok to uninstall kodi addons open kodi and go to VIDEOS and then ADDONS , go to and highlight the addon that you want to uninstall (dont open it ) . next press menu button or what ever button you usually press to bring up the context menu . you will see options such as
    addon information
    addon settings

select addon information , then you will see an uninstall option , select that . you will be asked if you are sure you want to uninstall the addon , if you are say yes .

to uninstall android apps its a different procedure . in your list of android apps you should have an app called SETTINGS , go to that and open it . or you may have mbox settings , my box has both . if you have settings app when you open it you will see options on the left side of the screen such as wifi/ bluetooth/ ethernet etc etc .

now if you dont have the settings app but you do have mbox settings open that , then you will see NETWORK /DISPLAY /ADVANCED /OTHER

go to other , then use your down button to go down to MORE SETTINGS . then you will see what i mentioned above in settings .

so in settings scroll down the list of options on the left side of screen to APPS and highlight it , and then press ok . now on the right side of your screen a list of your android apps will appear . you need to go over to the right side of your screen so press the right button on your remote control . now you will see one of your apps highlighted in blue , go to an app that you dont want an highlight it in blue and then press ok ,lots of options will appear (YOUR CLEAR CACHE AND CLEAR DATA CACHE OPTIONS ARE HERE we will come back to that ) , now you need to use your up/down and left/right buttons to go up to UNINSTALL and highlight it and press ok . now again you may be asked if you are sure you want to uninstall , if you are say yes . the app is now uninstalled , all you have to do now is select the next app to uninstall .

now some apps are important , they are not system files but they are still important such as the settings app i mention here . so dont uninstall any important apps , keep settings / mbox settings / file browser / google playstore in fact if you have any doubt dont uninstall . if you dont use the regular google / twitter /facebook / google maps etc apps you can uninstall any of that stuff if you like . that said you can re install any of these apps again . OBVIOUSLY DONT UNINSTALL KODI otherwise you will have to re install and then install all your addons again .

uninstalling kodi or android apps wont do any harm to your box , they are only addons and apps THEY ARE NOT SYSTEM FILES , so its quite safe .

now lets go back to the regular cache and the data cache . each android app has both of these . you can delete / clear the regular cache of any app without doing any harm as clearing the regular cache only clears out junk , so you can feel free to clear the regular cache of any android app . in fact for kodi you should do it regularly as kodi builds up quickly .

the data cache if cleared WONT UNINSTALL an app , what it will do is delete everything you saved in the app . for example if you installed addons in kodi and then cleared the kodi data cache you would erase all your installed addons . so hen when you opened kodi it would have no addons inside and you would have to install them again . some times kodi gets so big that its taking up so much memory in the box that the box wont operate , if that happens you would need have little choice but to clear kodis data cache or uninstall kodi and then re install it . and i need to make it clear for anyone using google apps or facebook apps or similar , if you clear the data cache for these apps on your android box IT WILL HAVE NO AFFECT AT ALL ON YOUR REGULAR ACCOUNTS THAT YOU WOULD ACCESS ON YOUR COMPUTER OR PHONE . all you would be doing is clearing the data on your android box and nothing more . lastly here if you clear the data cache that also by default clears the regular cache , so if you clear data you dont have to clear the regular cache . and when you clear the cache it never (by default ) goes below 12kb , so if you clear cache and i still says 12kb dont worry as thats the default setting .

ok so when you go to settings , and then down to apps you press ok , then all your apps appear on the right of screen . use your right button to go over to the right , then scroll to the app you want and highlight it and press ok . now if you look near the bottom right of screen it says CLEAR DEFAULTS , and just above that it says CLEAR CACHE , go to clear cache highlight it and press ok , then your cache will go back to the default 12kb . that will only erase junk files and wont harm your app or box in any way .

just above clear cache you will see CLEAR DATA . as with clear cache you go to it and highlight it and press ok . for apps like google /google maps / twitter / facebook etc all this will do is delete your browsing history or saved passwords etc etc and little else . but as said above if you clear data on kodi it will erase all your addons , so ONLY erase data on apps you dont use and if you are not sure about an app DONT ERASE data .

    What a comprehensive explanation piopat!

I'll take note of what you said, write it down and proceed cautiously.

Thank you very much - and much obliged.
