A NEWBIES GUIDE TO MX ANDROID

Hi I was wondering if anyone would help me. Got an android mxq 4.4.2 box a few days ago and it restored to it's factory settings on it's own accord for some reason. It came pre loaded with Kodi on it and it was working fine but when it restored I tried to download Kodi again.

While I can download Kodi, when I got to install it, it won't install. I just get an message saying not installed. has anyone else had this problem or have any solutions?

 

did you get kodi from playstore?

 

no got Kodi from the kodi.tv.downloads link. thenk downloaded the ARM file. it went to install then just said not installed. I didnt go through the playstore. this is the first android box i've had.

 

delete it then try n get it from playstore. I got mine from playstore no prob

 

I've deleted it but when I tried to get it on the playstore it wouldnt let me as the device is supported with the playstore. at a loss here.
Is there any other software to use rather than Kodi?

 

Or any other suggestions on a fix? Thanks in advance.

 

Got USTVnow in Kodi. This came with the box and i had to create an account on their website but after all the hassle to do that all one finds in the addon are 7 channels!! What a rip-off!

 

I've just tried ethernet cable and nothing happened then. I've searched the internet but none of the posts seem to cover this problem.

 

go in to setings, allow unknown sources (check it), then go back to the kodi download page, id rather stay out of play store for kodi

 

I've tried 3 different HDMI cables now, two of which I know work as they were running Now TV and X box and the third came with the MX Pro box. Each time I have scrolled through the EXT channels on our tv.
I have googled the problem but none of the answers cover this being an eventuality. What am I doing wrong. I've even plugged it in to the Ethernet cable but still nothing!
The only other thing I can think of doing is to conect it directly to my laptop. Any suggestions what to do once it is connect to my laptop?

Just tried this, using the HDMI lead connected to the Xbox. Still nothing. How can both boxes be faulty?

 

Melody I use 123movies, exedus, velocity for movies just to have options if one does not have the movie I'm looking for , I try the other , and yes in the muckyduck new repo in the link below

Blusoop on your TV how many hdmi options do you have as in hdmi 1 hdmi 2 , it seems you might be in the wrong source on your TV , as you say the chances of both boxes been faulty are slim , and you've tried different hdmi cables , you should at least get box logo on screen from one off the boxes if you are on the right source ?

Paulie, I have two HDMI ports. I had been using EXT 6 for NOW TV box. I unplugged working HDMI from NOW TV box leaving the cable attached to TV and hooked up the MX Box. I then needed a different power lead for the MX box, hooked that up. Green power light but no picture. I kept it on EXT 6 and no sign of life. I've made sure all cables are connected properly. I'm running out of options.

 

Thanks it is definitely the Box. I install the Kodi app on my new S7 and it works straight away without any issues can connect without dropouts to metalkettle and livemix .. , Just makes me wonder why i need a box if the phone can be connected to TV via chromecast or similar ??

 

zayn the boxes are just convenient for watching on tv without having to setup , my daughter has it on her ipad and watches it with chromecast in her room and works fine , i can also use my pc via hdmi to tv , but as i sayjust more less hassle using mxbox

 

blusoop is it possable to bring both boxes to another house maybe a mate and hook up to their tv , try both boxes on the right tv source you should at least get mbox logo on one as it very strange for two boxes and rare for both to show nothing or even if you have second tv , its one thing to have issue with ethernet/wifi issues , but as you say u are not even getting a boot up logo after trying different hdni cables , all seems to point to tv source
ps you say you have two hdmi connections on tv can you plug both boxes in to both hdmi connections just a idea

Hi Paulie. Thank you so much for your replies. We have a tv upstairs, so today I decided to take the box upstairs...guess what? Yep, it worked straight awy! So it's definitely a connection/source problem. Any ideas how I can overcome this...i realise this means it is no longer relevant to this topic but you guys seem to know your stuff. Many thanks
