Okay Flip I have done what you suggested about ASPI and here is what I get.. A registry editor screen comes up with the following message: Cannot import Win9x\win9x.reg: Error opening the file. There may be a disk or file system error. Go figure.. I did it as you said, I did the Killaspi, then instASPI, then rebooted and ran aspichk. it shows its not loaded.. Now what? Thanks...
try force 1.7: http://www.afterdawn.com/software/cdr_software/cdr_tools/frcaspi.cfm Download, unzip, browse unzipped files, click instaspi, reboot. When your run aspi check, all should read 4.60 _X_X_X_X_X_[small]Dell 8250, Pentium 4 2.80GHz 1.5 GB RDRAM, 200GB HD TDK 840G, Sony DDU-1612 DVD-ROM XP Pro, ATI All-In-Wonder 9000 Pro[/small]
Okay did that and it came up with the same error.. Maybe a dumb question would my firewall or antivirus be affecting this? Billiam
No its a oem edition from a computer that died.. I am reading up on this aspi stuff and errors, I am looking at the registry to find out if I have the entry that should be there when aspi is installed. I will reply once I check that..
Well I have the registry key so I dont know what to do now, I figured that could be the problem.. any other suggestions?
Okay, I finally was able to install ASPI, I have version 4.7.? I went to adaptecs site and did it from there and it worked. So what next?
Well I tried to burn it read the entire dvd, it said to put in a blank dvd, I did and an error message came up " xpress.exe has and error and will shut down" frustrating.. How do I burn the image now that its in a temp folder? Also, I downloaded a nero trial version and it keeps coming up with " my demo version is expired" I am not sure when I would have downloaded it before but I just did it the other night and it still came up with it then also.. one thing after another.... Billiam
Only the RF versions can browse for files on your HD to burn. Sent you a PM ... your using XCopy Xpress and not Gold, right? I've seen that Nero's trial versions go by the month (ex. July 1 - July 30th) ... so if you downloaded it late July it would have expired on the 30th of July(wierd huh?)
Yes, I have gold but I use xpress to rip and burn.. How do I get rid of Nero so I can download it again? I don't remember ever downloading it before but maybe I did.... by the way, the attempt at the burn today did not work... Thanks, Billiam
Did you update your version of XCopy Gold? To v3.0.4? http://www.nycsoftware.com/dvdxcopy/support/ Just try to re-download and install the trial version. Uninstall the other one first.
Yes, I went and uprgaded today... As I stated, I have xcopy gold, using xpress, why does it still take so long to backup? I will send you a pm with another question.. Billiam
OK... I have an activation problem as well. I reloaded XP Pro SP1 on the 200Gb hard drive and started to reload my software on the 80gb hard drive. I have a licensed copy of X-Copy-Gold but cannot activate it on the new drive. I would like to use the smaller Drive as an experiment OS drive (Linux etc.) and run XP on the bigger drive. Before I wipe everything out on the smaller drive I want to have everything operational on the larger one. Any help would be most appreciated. I have called the support numbers that came with the software, went to www.dvdxcopy.com and other places that this forum has suggested but alas 321 Studios is out of business and I am stuck with a $100.00 coaster System Details Processor: GenuineIntel Family 15 Model 2 2.8 GHz Stepping 9 (2 CPUs) Math Support: Present BIOS: DELL - 7 Phoenix ROM BIOS PLUS Version 1.10 A02, 07/21/03 Bus Type: PCI, ISA, USB Ports: 1 Parallel, 2 Serial Memory: 1023 MB (27% Utilized) Floppy Disks: 1.44 MB Hard Disks: 74.50 GB, 186.31 GB Multimedia: Sound, CD-ROM Video: 1280 x 1024 in 32-Bit Color, 128MB DDR ATI Radeon 9800 Ver. 6.14 < Operating System > Windows: 5.1 (Build 2600) Net Clients: Microsoft Terminal Services Microsoft Windows Network Web Client Network
No coaster. You activate in Canada. It's Live support and it's 321 Studios. I've done it, they're staying there just across the border. 519-963-3099 I found the number by accident in fuzzy web search for 321 worldwide. All I ask is that you pass this on through the forums so that that U.S. users aren't hanging. Cheers....
