It will be interesting to see how well the Pentiums run cooler with the more mainstream acceptance of the BTX motherboards. Also I just read an article in MIT's magazine that Intel is developing a new processor technology that may be able to extend Moore's Law for another 20 + years and is also developing technology that reduce bottle necks between the proc and other circuitries
The amd x2 is the best thing out there, intel doesn't have one thing that can keep up w/ it. amd is the sh*t!!!!!
i've always been a (more than happy) Intel man, but felt like a change, hence my Athlon system. I can't afford to upgrade often anymore, so wanted something that would last
AMD is less expensive for a better product that p4....sure it runs hotter but the heat issue is being controlled with the newer processor....i have a amd 4000.....never been on a faster pc then then one i have.....a pentium can't compare to this
i still have an amd 450mhz & it is still up & running, my p3 733mhz is still going but the mobo gave up the ghost & my athlon thunderbird 1.4ghz is still going strong even if i had to replace my northbridge fan on my asus a7 mobo. i liked the p3 series the best but i don't think i liked the p4 series. my co-workers are intel fanatics but for me, as long as it serves the purpose - intel or amd. amd is still my choice especially that i've read posts that the heat issue has been resolved as well as price.
I just built a pc for fun, looks, and mild gaming. Im more of a console gamer tho. I went with intel mostly because im more familiar with them. After reading this thread im wondering if i should have went with AMD. What i would really want to see is someone compare the specs between the alienware ALX systems. One is powered by dual amd processors and the other is powered by dual Xeon processors. I think it would be very interesting to see the results.
