Are you certain that anyDVD is in your quick launch tool bar? If it doesn't work then you have a dated version of one of them. If they're both updated then they should do ok. If not then you will have to rip your files with DVD Decrypter or another good ripper.
For now I'm using a trial.Don't want to put out $$ if it won't do the job. Oh it does do the job when using NeroExpress(OEM) I have not purchased recode2.I can't seem to figure out what the #@! to do with Shrink.I ripped a movie to my hard drive with it but would have to buy recode2 to make use of it. I have a single tray multi-recorder.No guide I've printed out gives directions for doing this with what I have. Or maybe I just don't know enough about this contraption to do it rightMy poor pooch is quiet bewildered as to why she's not got my attention
I see the icon in my taskbar when point the cursor over it says(anydvd3.8.2.3 on:1,off:0,empty:0)I do have decypter again I can't make heads or tails of what to do with these things or get step by step instructions for dummies like me to use it.Oh woe is me
If you follow these instructions and those from the guide you'll get your backup. If you don't have DVD Shrink then download now, you can get it here on AD. Now, assuming you have Shrink, open it and choose File I/O, and at the bottom left check enable burnig with Nero. As long as you have a 6X version of Nero it doesn't matter if its the Ultra version or the Nero Express version, both will work. Now print this guide and follow it exactly, you get it here: http://www.afterdawn.com/guides/archive/dvd9_to_dvdr_with_dvd_shrink.cfm
Thank I will try that.I don't know if this matters when I launch start smart under applications it says I have Nero Express,Nero Vision Express SE,NEro Back It Up, Nero Cover Designer, Nero Showtime. No mention of Nero Buring Rom.
It's an OEM version and it doesn't matter it will work with DVD Shrink. Now get started, do I what I suggested and do the downloads they're all free, and follow the guide. get back to me wheb you're done.
Soc, SUCCESS!!!!!! I finally got it (the crs is bad)(crs aka can't remember s#%&t)I did it in iso with shrink burned one with decrypter another with Nero. My daughter is watching the dvd as I type. Now I just have to show her how to use it. Many huge thanks to you.Don't know when I would have gotten it right without the help from everyone at AfterDawn. I guess backing up Schindlers List shall be fun.
Hmmm! [bold]"Soc"[/bold]? Glad you're on board but "SOC"? _X_X_X_X_X_[small] "Once you eliminate the impossible, whatever remains, no matter how improbable, must be the truth." Sherlock Holmes (by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, 1859-1930)[/small]
Soc, I'll have to remember that one. I was gone for a few days and just catching up. Notice you're out and about more these days.
borbear getting up earlier or haven't gone to bed yet? _X_X_X_X_X_[small] "Once you eliminate the impossible, whatever remains, no matter how improbable, must be the truth." Sherlock Holmes (by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, 1859-1930)[/small]
I have so little concept of time. Woke up late or early? What's an ebe and how do you gon on one? Now you're being likened to Socrates in Freudian slips. Seems you're going to get that title, one way or another.
Hi brobear, taking a cue from one of the posts, I emailed 321 support with my license number from dvdexpress (I have the ripper version of dvdxcopy, too, which still seems to work, but apparently I didn't qualify to be upgraded to Platinum, so although the older version still seems to work, it produces two disks instead of shrinking to one. Forget the version numerals. And not important here, I guess.) Anyway, 321 emailed me back promptly with a new license number to use for a download of Xpress RF. Downloaded it, executed 321ripper, and the thing works beautifully once again. The older version is still sitting in my harddrive, but as long as the tweeked-RF version continues to function, there is no real incentive to delve much deeper into it. At least this process introduced me to afterdawn and the great help and support available from you people here, which makes the experience more than worthwhile. Thanks again for the help and I'll be dropping in from time to time to see what else might be going on in the frustrating world of dvd software issues. Thanks. Oh, by the way, if anyone is interested, one of my attempted solutions to this problem was downloading the Redxpress program, recommended for backing up TV episodes in a recent PC Magazine article. It's a british company, so the 321 ruling doesn't effect them. However, the program didn't perform well for me. Always, always, failed on the 2nd disk. (It breaks TV episode disks into two.) At first, their support team was attentive and offered suggestions. As those suggestions failed, I tended to hear less from them, and now I get no response to my email queries at all. So, I'm still looking for that perfect program that makes backing up my TV collection simple. Hope this wasn't too long. Or an inappropriate thread to post to. Either way, thanks again for the help. tedkbrown

Hi I got a problem with DVDx 2.2 and wondering if any one can help me My system spec is AMD Athlon 64 3400+ Gigabyte GA-K8NSNXP Mainboard 1GB GEIL PC3200 Platinum DDR RAM 40GB Samsung SP0411N HDD 2x83GB IC35L080AVVA07-0 HDD 80GB Maxtor 6Y080L0 HDD 2x200GB Maxtor 6Y200M0 HDD ATI Radeon 9800 256MB When loading IFO file for DVDx 2.2, after altering the input settings, the program causes a program exception and needs to be closed. I dont know if the program was designed for AMD 64 bit processors, if not, is there any possibility someone knows of a patch that may have been made for the AMD 64 bit processor? Grateful for any help you can provide
moke930 What burning software do you also have installed on your computer. If you have any version Of Nero 6X then try this and see what happens. Download DVD Shrink , open it and choose edit, the preferences, File/IO, and at the bottom check eanble burning with Nero. Now go to the guide through the URL below and follow it completely step by step. We will know if its a problem with you software. The download I suggested is compltely free and without spyware of anykind. http://www.afterdawn.com/guides/archive/dvd9_to_dvdr_with_dvd_shrink.cfm
tedkbrown Partially appropriate, which is good enough most of the time. All thanks appreciated. When using Xcopy you make title selections. To the right is a box for USE COMPRESSION. When checked it uses compression to place the transcoded files on one disk. When unchecked it goes into splitting mode. Could that possibly be the problem, not having USE COMPRESSION checked? You know you have a looser when tech support starts avoiding you. Good luck and check back and let us know whats happening occasionally. BTW, if you don't mention those probs, we can't help. Didn't know you were having a splitting problem. Sophocles, Good plan of action to suggest trying another program to isolate the suspect software. And using a no cost option makes it painless. When using Nero, I always suggest not opening the InCD as it causes problems with recording software. It's included in the 321 bulletin to delete that particular part of the software when present. I know, it's posted earlier in the thread; sometimes newbies don't read the whole thing (guess I repeat myself a lot). _X_X_X_X_X_[small][bold]'brobear'[/bold] [/small]
Hey brobear [bold]When using Nero, I always suggest not opening the InCD as it causes problems with recording software.[/bold]. You can extend that to all packet writing software because almost every major burninng suite has one. Hmmm! Just say no to Packet writing software.
