And WHO could forget (although you might WANT to forget)the lovely Edith Massey in her playpen screaming, "Eggs!! Eggs!! Eggs!!" Or, a quite odd one....when Crackers was having sex with Mink Stole (I think) and he kept yelling, "HOLD ON to those damn chickens!!"
your right romero, i barely know what movies you guys are talking about, im like WTF, the only thing i did understand is the Monty Python movies, those are really good.
Solargame: I and Jmark were talking about John Waters's movies, check http://akas.imdb.com/name/nm0000691/bio and http://akas.imdb.com/name/nm0000691/maindetails#director for a little info. His movies definitely aren't mainstream so it's not wonder most of people doesn't recognize them at all.
A basic tenet of freedom is input from all, (as in e pluribus unum). I enjoy everyone's input from Winnie the Pooh to the "teabagging" scene in the hilarious movie "Pecker" (a mainstream movie--in all the theaters). I saw "Shrek 2" last night from Netflix. I liked "Finding Nemo" because it had such beauty in the visual creation of the ocean they made. "Shrek" is simply DAZZLING. The things being done now are amazing (Contrast with the earlier days in "Jason and the Argonauts" and Ray Harryhausen's stop-frame stuff). The storyline was thin, but it didn't seem to matter with the marvelous imagery. I also saw "Michael Moore Hates America" a fascinating rebuttal to "Fahrenheit 911". Trying to figure out politics is not my game, but I like to see the banter and finger-pointing from afar. I have a question to all here...what has been your all-time favorite Horror movie--and why? that's a tough nut to pick, but please try anyway.
That's a shitty guestion you picked, I can't name just one or even just ten best ones... Well, at least one of them is Phantasm because it's so eerie at all stages, killer spheres are very unique - and very violent - idea and The Tall Man is creepier than bucketful of cockroaches. I'll also give it an extra points for cool Hemi Cuda
Sorry Romero, although I knew it was a nebulous task to name one. My goal was to find some movies I have missed in years past and get them so I can have some good ones to watch. When I rent unknown films--I get some real **garbage** from time to time. I think "The Exorcist" was the one that made a deep impression on me. It made the whole concept of the "Devil" seem more plausible--the stuff that happened was un-earthly. By the way, there is a company named Treeline Productions that has collections--one is a 50-movie DVD that has a bunch of fun stuff from the 50s. I only paid $19.95+$5.00 shipping. It's worth it...one of my old favorites, the "Killer Shrews" was on it.
Don't be sorry, that's a good question: It's just hard to give definite answer. I know your situation well since I've been into horror schemes for a long time and I've bought a lot of rubbish along with good ones, so it's always nice to hear someone else's opinions and pick some tips from them. I don't have time to write more right now but I'll get back on the subject later.
I saw a couple of good movies this week: "Strangers on a Train" a 1951 B&W oldie by Alfred Hitchcock...still a good movie in every way. Also saw a docu. "Michael Moore Hates America", the rebuttal (I guess) to "Fahrenheit 911"...probably is a good idea to watch both lest your knees start jerking during conversations with others.
Oops...I forget one more comment...I saw "Shrek 2" also...what did anyone think of the quality of animation? It dazzled me.
shrek 1 and 2, magic roundabout, polar express, toy story 1 & 2, nemo etc etc etc are beautifully animated, and top films. another i think is incredibly detailed is Disney's Tarzan, that's got to be one of the most detailed films in mky opinion, all those incredible effects in the jungle
I really liked "I, Robot", the animated scenes blended nicely with real things...the facial expressions of the robots was excellent. But, I still get scared due to the original "Alien" (a classic by any measurement) and the revelation that..."Ash is a goddamn robot!!"...after he tried to kill Sigourney Weaver (nice pictures of her in the movie too --)with a rolled up magazine rammed down her craw--a novel attempt at homicide.
I got 3 from Netflix in today's mail..."Ocean's Twelve", "The Incredibles" and "Million Dollar Baby". Has anyone seen "Constantine"? I am getting worried though, Keanu Reeves seems to be in too many devil/demon movies...
