It looks like mine encode is switching over to FFMS2.DLL. Has anyone figured out a solution to this yet? Or will we have to wait till a newer version comes out?

I don't have a fix as far as stopping it from doing that. But until jdobbs comes up with a solution my workaround does work. I've done it at least a half a dozen times. It takes longer but not as long as re-encoding the entire DVD all over again plus it lessens the chance of x264 stopping again.

A normal encode for entire disc takes about 4-5 hours for me, so aborting and restarting BD-RB when FFMS2.DLL kicks in adds another 2-3 hours because it's only re-doing the 2nd pass. So that's still just 6-8 hours total. It doesn't seem to happen (or rarely) with "movie only" option.

Or you can wait on jdobbs if nobody has a fix, I'm sure he'll come up with an answer soon, especially since it seems to occur mainly in Win 7 and Win 7 is now retail. I've never had this happen in Vista which I also use except mine is 64 bit.

proxpilot if you want to send me your email in my messages I'll email you an earlier version.

I believe you have to pick the ENTIRE folder with the name of the movie. If you open that folder and pick BDMV it's not recognized.

I don't know if this is of any help, but I was having the same problem with some encodes. BD-RB was failing and switching to FFMS2.DLL for the encodes. And everytime it used FFMS2.DLL to encode the audio was out of sync. In the notes JDOBBS states that it only switches to FFMS2.DLL, when x264 fails. In the past if I had an x264 fail, I would uninstall mastroka, ffdshow, and avsynth, then just reinstall!! But always install in order that is listed in very first thread. This has always taken care of any "failed" encodes for me. I'm also still running Win XP64 Prof. Good luck!

    Bigo and MRI3T

I support the advice given by you both.

That's perhaps the most common advice that has seemed to work in this thread. The other is making certain to get exactly the same versions of applications that are listed by jdobbs even if there are updated versions available.

I haven't tried this yet since I've always moved to new versions, but try and set the clock and date on your computer back a couple of months and try it.

I did just that and it worked. I unistalled the 3 mentioned apps and reinstalled the same versions that are in the links at the beginning of this thread and was able to do a full backup of the Pirates of the Carribean - Dead Men's Chest.

dvdfab does bd-9 and bd-5 too...but i like to use bdrebuilder to convert the audio to ac3 448 save some space for video...just wonder is it good as bdrb cuz takes bout 7 to 8 hours to do a movie while it took dvdfab like only 2 to 3 hours to do bd-9...i compare the video dont see much difference...

To check out DVDfab I did one of my usual test movies (Eagle Eye). DVDfab does backup to BD-9 and BD-5. The issues I see is that there is no audio re-encoding capability which can cause it to compete for available space against video and therefore seriously affect the quality of video. This means that if one comes across a movie with only HD audio they will probably not be able to re-encode it to BD-5 or more often than not BD-9 because the audio alone would run nearly the size of a BD-5 and if HD LPCM greater.

It's a one pass re-encode which does make things faster if not a little dirtier (I completed Eagle Eye movie in 67 minutes). The sound track was 640 KBs as was previously stated by taylen 228 I like to have the option of re-encoding audo to a lower bitrate. BD-5 will only allow for 720P because of the lack of sound re-encode option. The picture quality revealed a lack of contrast and the overall picture had a softened appearance which is immediately noticeable. I've done the same movie using two pass and audio re-encoding with BD-RB and achieved 1080P with a much sharper picture.

To sum: It's going to be faster on slow systems but be prepared to use BD-9 to keep video quality higher and in many cases one will have to go to BD media to achieve an acceptable backup.

Well, it's good to know it will do Dvd 5 and 9. I have used it in the past to split Dvd's but not the new versions that do blu-ray. I DL'd it to check it out but must've over looked the ability to go from blu-ray to Dvd. I agree w/Soph tho, I like having more options to tailor make the end product, and just like Dvd Rebuilder, BD-RB takes longer but both apps outshine any others when it comes to quality backups.

i just used DVDfab to do the Dark Knight cuz BDRB has been giving me problems with that movie. and the audio STILL doesnt match up. Did Transformers 2 with DVDfab and it is perfect. this is boggling my mind. ive tried the work arounds with BDRD and it still does not work for me. i downloaded an older version of BDRB now instead of out of sync audio on 1 movie i just get failed encodes with everything.
