If other movies are working except for Dark Knight, have you tried ripping it again to your HD and seeing if maybe your 1st rip was bad?

BTW, I just did Godzilla with DvdFab Platinum and then with BD-RB on the exact same media. DvdFab in under 2 hours worked and the results weren't bad I must admit. BD-RB took 5 hours and was worth every minute. After I put them side by side on a plasma 1080p split screen, BD-RB blew DvdFab away. Colors much brighter and images much sharper, so unless I get one BD-RB just absolutely can't do, DvdFab will be sitting idly by.

It's inevitable that comparisons or alternative backup methods will crop up in posts from time to time. It's generally a good idea to present an honest comparison to end speculation.

Agreed. One can also rip with AnyDvd, then use those files in DvdFab as your source.

Exactly and I would even add that comparisons with constructive feedback would also aid the author with ideas/improvements to the development of their own application(s) while in beta and even after.

okay - I understand - I did try to point out a 'few' things that descibe why I would choose other means besides the program in question. And maybr I should just have posted that BD-RB was using the bitrate calculations better and filling available space better. Again, the is just an observation. Sorry...

I wasn't criticizing your statement I was mostly agreeing with it in my usual and odd way. LOL

Sorry if it sounded like criticism.

If you go back to this thread and read through it you will understand.

lol, Lordy Soph, that takes me back! Hard to believe that was almost 6 years ago. After the smoke cleared I believe I ended up liking Pinnacle InstantCopy the best as far as quality until Dvd Rebuilder came along. I know this is way off track but I couldn't resist. Sooo...to get back on track as far as blu-ray, gotta be BD-RB (when it works):>)

    CURRENT VERSION 0.31.02 (November 17th, 2009)

    http://www.jdobbs.net/freeware/BD-RBV03102.zip

    - Removed FFMS2.DLL from the installation as a backup
method when FFDSHOW was not being called. It seems
to have caused more problems than it solved.
    - Added checks for necessary software installations at
startup to identify shortfalls and help prevent
"failed encoding" errors. Note: You MUST have
HAALI, FFDSHOW, and AVISYNTH installed to run BD-RB
now -- there are too many issues when they are not.
    - Added code to configure FFDSHOW as the preferred
CODECs for DirectShow in Windows 7 when not set
correctly. BD-RB also generates a file called
"FF_RESET.BAT" in the BD-RB folder that will reset the
original DirectShow preferences (in case they need to
be restored for some reason). A special thanks to
    Atak_Snajpera for his helpful insight.
    - Added a batch file "REG_MSCOMCTL.BAT" that can be
used to register the .OCX file when it isn't already.
You may have to run this as Administrator. This step
will not be necesary when the program gets out of
beta and has its own installation package.
    - Updated the included version of X264.EXE to the
    latest release (r1342).
    - Other minor corrections and cosmetic fixes.

I tried to back up Bleak House disk 1 with no luck. The video is only just over the required size, around 25.2GB I believe. It ran really slowly for a long time then errored out. I also have DVDFab which I tried, right a way it stated that it couldn't compress interleaved video, which I imagine is what tripped up BD Rebuilder.
Will this feature be added at some point?

    Thanks, Marty.

Interleaved video can cause a problem. I'll check and see if anyone else is having an issue with it and try to get back, but it is a Holiday so be patient.

Has anyone confirmed that 'if by un-checking the limit to one track for each language box', and then selecting custom size disc (to match that of the film with no compression done) BD rebuilder will just copy the movie and all audio tracks to an image.

Basically I want to use BDR to just remove all the extras etc... and leave me with the original movie and all audio tracks (no matter how big) so I have the option to play back the best available audio to surround system.

I am currently ripping complete discs to HDDs of media PC, but don't want to take up space for all the pointless 'IMO' extras, I do want however playback from one source, not having to keep inserting discs, and 100% top quality picture on TV.

I know some people here are clued up enough on the audio to know what is on the disc by looking at the structure (I'm not).

Thanks in advance of any replies.

I just scored some bd-r discs for $2 each, so I will start to backup the best movies on them. (like Star Trek, Terminator etc.) I would like to use the BD 25 option and keep the HD audio be it True HD or dts ma. I can do this by going into setup and checking the "keep hd audio for bd25 encoding" correct? Also, I have a question regarding the high speed option for 25gb encodes. Does this lower the quality of the video at all? if it does then i'll just stick with the High quality mode.
    thanks in advance

I have been trying to use FAb, have had it a long time, can't seem to get the hang of the Blu Ray process. I am trying to copy a BluRay disk and shrink it to burn to a Dvd 5/9dual. I set it,(so I thought) TO rip to fit a Dvd9 dual. When I went to burn it, it was about 40Gig. What setting is needed to shrink it to burn to a Dvd 5/9? T.I.A. T.I.A.

What are you using to rip with? BD RB just reencodes but it will not rip a file from a disc.
