Remember my last post said that I was making it without any details. If you could provide more information on things such as the movie that you're trying to reencode it would help.

Did you use the links provided in the first post for you setup?

A lot of errors occur when members use different versions of the BD RB's companion software than those that it was coded to. Don't worry just a little info and a little patience and you will get it all working.

Again, thanks for the reply, some of the movies I tried to rip were, Land of the Lost, Inglorious Bestards , Harry Potter, used Verbatim, 2.4x DL, was able to do them with DvDFab Blu Ray to Blu Ray

    New release of BD RB.

    CURRENT VERSION 0.31.06 (January 5th, 2010)

    http://www.jdobbs.net/freeware/BD-RBV03106.zip

I've done at least two of those movies depending on which Harry potter you're mentioning.

Try to provide as much information as you can about your system such as operating system and processor and speed.

Which exact version of movie are you working on such as whether they are extended versions such as directors cut or just the typical theater release. In which area to you live? Some of the other guys will then tend to chime in more. Without clear data it's hard to make recommendations.

I just had a little suprise concerning Hali media splitter (matroska splitter). The Matroska Splitter that is linked to in this thread (first post) is version 1.9.42.1, I searched the web or ran into a Matroska Splitter dated 12/19/2009 - it is version 1.9.335.21 - it is nearly twice the size of the version that is listed in this forum - I thought I would be upgrading the splitter - well - I couldn't encode anything - the splitters setup was exactly the same as for the one that works - so I am wondering what the difference is and why the one that is dated so recently doesn't work? Also - I am going to be switching to windows 7 64 bit - and I have come across a haali splitter x64 (http://www.hack7mc.com/2009/05/finding-haalis-x64-splitter-beta.html) - I suppose this wouldn't work either - I get the picture that this term Haali Media Splitter is a loose term that can refer to a codec as well as a video/ audio splitter for mkv container files. Could someone please explain a bit about this situation? Also I assume that BD-RB works fine in 7's 64 bit enviroment (I've asked this before) -

I wonder if one should use a x64 version of FFDshow instead of the x86 version?

*Happy*New*Year* to all - Best Wishes and thank you for BD-RB and all that everyone is doing*

BD RB functions through additional software using avisynth using a command line interface. Each version of a software is a change from a previous version and how it works and . If you change the version of any of the software BD RB uses then you will also have to change the command line instructions to accommodate that or you will break the set of instructions.

Haali media splitter is a demultiplexer that breaks up MPEG4 (M2TS) audio and video streams and then directs them to the appropriate decoders for processing.

If I understand you right - then only a paticular version of Matroska splitter will work with BD-RB - not another version (would have different set of instuctions). Then - I have another question - when installing Ripbot - there is a link to the newer version of the Haali media splitter - the Matroska Splitter that is dated 12/19/09 - when I reinstalled the other version of the splitter (to get BD-RB to work) I wiped out the 12/19/09 version - does that mean one has to either use BD-RB or Ripbot - but not both - or will Ripbot be able to run using either of the splitters -

It is a little misleading in the first post in this thread - where it says to update to the latest version of Matorska splitter - that link takes one to version 1.0.2.9 - one that you have to copy the ax file to system32 folder -But the upper link for the splitter is to version 1.9.42.1 - an exe file(one that seems to work).

I'm still a bit confused with all the different versions and then the programs that require a distint version...

Always use the version that jdobbs used to set things up with.

It doesn't mean that it won't work with BD-RB but it's more likely to cause issues just as if you should roll-back to the previous version, Ripbot could have issues (not verified but suspected).

I can see where that's an issue but remember the post is months old and at the time it was referring to the latest version. IF in doubt always copy the latest version listed in the first post. I'll let jdobbs know that it caused you an issue.

Well, I finally bought a BD-Rom drive and got it installed in my Dell Inspiron 531. I used AnyDVD to rip 2001 A Space Odyssey to my HD and I'm currently using BD RB 0.31.06 to encode it to 720p movie only to fit on a DVD-5. Here is the log so far.

Funny thing was that the X/H.264 encode failed on the first try, but it seem to be working fine now. Current progress is at 41.90% and overall is at 21.05%. I'll let everyone know how it turns out.

Well, the results are in on my first attempt at using DB-RB and things didn't go so well. It seemed to have gotten finished with the first pass and then would go no farther. Here is the log.

I tried aborting it a couple of times and restarting but had no luck with that. Any suggestions?

Could you check this? Open ffdshow video decoder configuration and in the Window to the right scroll down to VC-1 and then make certain that it's set to WMV9. IF it's not set it.

    Ok, Done and Done!

I'm starting it up again and will let you know how it goes this time. Thanks for that assist, Sophocles!

    Edited to Add:

Restarted BD-RB and it wanted to take up where it had stopped. Here is the log.

As you can see, no joy. Do you think I should just delete what I already have done and start from the beginning?

Sophocles, Looks like that was the trick! Finished the first pass and started in on the second without any problems this time. Although I can see that encoding BD disks is going to be a long drawn out process for my Athlon 64 x2 4000 system. Maybe I should just go ahead and build that quad core system I've been thinking about.

I've been playing around with this all night and i keep getting the same errors. i followed all the instructions on how to get it to work but when it goes to encode the audio i get a windows error message about "aften.exe" having an error and that windows needs to close it, and then the program just stops. is there a setting or something that i need to "tweak" or something that I'm missing. it's frustrating me ALOT! if there's anybody out there that can help me out I'd REALLY appreciate it. I've googled for answers and am at a lost of how to fix this! i know this is a beta but i was hoping somebody reading this could help me out. PLEASE and THANK YOU in advance.
