    CURRENT VERSION 0.34.10 (September 16th, 2010)

    http://www.jdobbs.net/freeware/BD-RBV03410.zip

    - Corrected an error in which the SETUP dialog was
not correctly initializing the "Keep only BDMV and
    CERTIFICATE folders" checkbox upon load.
    - Created a workaround for an issue in which some
poorly authored multi-part sources that have a
leading M2TS without audio can result in audio that
    is out-of-sync on movie-only backups.
    - Created a workaround for an issue in which some
poorly authored multi-part sources that have a
leading M2TS without subtitles can result in a
movie-only backup in which subs do not exist.
    - Other minor corrections and cosmetic fixes.

    Hi everyone,

I have been making "Movie-Only" backups with great sucess for some time now. However, I recently tried making BD-5 and BD-9 "Full Backups" but they do not work on my PS3. The PS3 just reads them as data disks and you can see the two folders "BMDV" and "CERTIFICATE". Am I doing something wrong, or can you only make full backups on BD-25 disks?

    Thanks for the help.

Which burning application are you using? Copy and paste the log from your re-encode.

I use ImgBurn, I even have BD-RB auto burn to disk. To clarify, when I throw it in my PS3 it shows up as a Data Disc. If I go into the folders I can watch the episodes, but no subtitles. I have had this problem for over a year (multiple PC's same PS3) but always gave up since I generally prefer Movie Only anyway. Could it be a setting on my PS3?

    1. There's a possibility that the issue is being caused by allowing BD RB to set the burn process a habit I gave up right in the beginning. I always prefer to Re-encode to a folder and play it some and skip through chapters before burning.

Try this and see if it helps. Re-encode to a folder, use img burn to convert to an ISO and burn. This will give img burn time to make corrections to structure.

Another is could be a result of the Sopranos being a TV series. If there are several episodes on a single disc then you will need a menu to access them which requires a full backup.

The next question is what are you using to rip your Blu-Rays with?

I just tried this: made an .iso image with the two folders (BDMV and CERTIFICATE). Then I burned to a DVD. Same problem though, PS3 still reads as data disk.

Yes, this is why I am trying to do a Full Backup; so I can put multiple episodes on one disk with a menu. With Band of Brothers I ran into the same problems, so I did a "Movie Only" encode with each seperate episode. The only problem with that is you end up burning a large number of discs. And I don't really need the Sopranos in 1080p one episode per disk, I would not have the space to store it.

I use AnyDVD, I own it and have the latest verison. In the Blu-Ray section I have all the settings checked except for PowerDVD workaround.

Have you tried to play the disc on a different standalone BD player?

Have you tried to play the disc on a different standalone BD player? Has your PS3 successfully played any BD 5 or BD 9 discs.

I don't have a stand alone player, but I do have PowerDVD on my computer and the "Full Backup" discs don't work on it either; I just get a black screen.

My PS3 and PowerDVD both play my BD-5 and BD-9 "Movie Only" discs without a problem.

I think the problem has something to do with the discs not being recognized as BD media, perhaps the "Movie Only" discs work because they are really just AVCHD discs?

Power DVD will play movies that will cause a Standalone player to freeze. If it plays in a good standalone then the incompatibility is with the PS3. My thoughts are that your issue is related to the fact that it's an episodic. TV series are notorious for causing issues. BD media can also be an issue especially if the media is LTH-Type. LTH will play fine on most newer units but many older units require a firmware upgrade to get them to play.

    CURRENT VERSION 0.34.11 (September 19th, 2010)

    http://www.jdobbs.net/freeware/BD-RBV03411.zip

    - Fixed a bug in which one-pass CRF encoding did not
work when the LAVF decoding option was selected.
    - Added more workarounds for certain types of badly
authored sources that could cause audio out-of-sync
    in movie-only mode.
    - Corrected audio sync issues associated with movies
output to ALTERNATE movie-only formats. This fix is
related to leading M2TS file workarounds that were
    implemented in BD-RB v0.34.10.
    - Updated the included version of X264.EXE to the
    latest release (r1722).
    - Other minor corrections and cosmetic fixes.

Is this a completed working folder? If so then the workfiles folder is still there as well then it is also being measured and it can be deleted if the reencode is fine.

With TV episodes such as Smallville it's best to go with a complete BD 25 because of total run time and you will need a menu.

Help please, I've been using this program for awhile with no issues but with Hot Tub Time machine the audio track came out to french and Robin hood came out with spanish. I've been using the same setting for all and all other movies are fine. Backing up to bd-25 with auto quality, just english audio and sub, checked all the blu ray settings under audio (do not convert dts, keep hd audio, etc). I ran both in xp and win7 and it's the samething, running on a athlon 2 x4 clocked to 3.38g with 4g ram.

    TIA

I can say with nearly 100% certainty that you will need to use a BD 25 setting for that. I would even go as far as to consider re-encoding HD audio tracks to 448kbs, but you can try both and see what turns up.
