    I think you missunderstood me...

    I would say that virtually every recent fiction film has got good sound, all of them have got the obligatory strong bottom end even with DTS, and sorround is 6.1... You can't really compare Heat with Black Hawk Down. The same way you can't compare Platoon with Saving private Ryan... It's different kinds of sound. I love the way Heat was done. BHD was done in a very similar way, as in filterless, but in a warzone area. Heat was on our urban streets... You can hear everything that happens there, nothing was left out, even the knees of them people shaking! Stunning!

    The Lord of the Rings is probably the best ever sound film! Then you have Gladiator, The Hulk, The X-Men... Most recent films really...
    I think Ben-Hur also got an oscar for best sound... It it better than any of the above?

    @permigg

    Don't worry buddy, I'm sure you'll enjoy SPL as much as I did. Like I said, Sammo Hung is freaken awesome man. Just watch it and you'll see what I mean. Not too much of an ma actions, but it is definitely a good gangster/cop crime thriller, in my opinion. If you're familiar IA, then you'll like it, plus the very last 2 ending fights is worth it, especially with Donnie and Sammo.

    I think it was Permiggs who mentioned Shawshank Redemption; it's one of my favorites because I have the same name as the lead character. Whenever some yells his name in the movie, I sort of jump out of my chair....kind of interactive in a wierd sort of way. It's particularly fun if you've had one drink too many and your a bit dazed and only half paying attention...surprises the hell out of me each and every time.

    @permiggs: you also mentioned Ben Hur. Did you ever notice in the big chariot race scene, Charleston Heston is wearing a watch? Way ahead of their time those folks.

    @Gerry
    I never noticed that! I had a quick check on that chariot bit but i couldn't find it... Maybe it's on another chariot scene... I'll find it tough! LOL

    I saw a pretty funny show on mistakes made during Ben Hur filming: one was Heston wearing a Rolex, another was a jet in the sky leaving a vapor trail and another was car tracks in front of the chariots. There were others too but I don't remember anymore.
