There could be a fault with the drive, the first one I got did not work at all, so much for Sony! I ended up getting one from PC world (AAAARRRRGGGGGGHHHH!!!!!) for a tenner. Nice to see you got it built, guess you sold your laptop fairly quickly. You are quite correct, the light should only be on when it is reading a disc. I have suspicions of the quality of your floppy, especially as is is trying to read all the time. Have you got another to try, or is it possible to exchange it? If not, I would not worry too much about it. I take you have XP installed? I have never needed my floppy, hence it is disabled in the BIOS. This also helps it boot up a lot quicker. Make your first boot device HDD0, then the rest CDROM.
Cheers mate, yeah I do have XP installed. I will disable the floppy then and probably take it out. It only cost about £3.50 so not lost much. Thanks again lads
I was just really grateful that people like you lads helped me out. I put my laptop on ebay and it went in two days, somebody paid the buy it now price and even drove over to pick it up so that was great. It's flying along like s*** of a shovel
if you paid £30 for a case inc psu, i doubt that psu will be much cop you might want to buy a better one
Way to try & pi** someone off dude!, My PSU was £20 from PC world (goddammitt), she works a treat! Cheap doesn't always mean s**t! PS, Biglad, way to go with the speed. Your PSU should work just fine! Pulsar
lol, cheers mate. Ralph777, it's all I could afford mate at the minute, it looks a really nice case. I will see how it goes and if I need to replace the psu at some point I will do, I will have more money to spend on it then.
That was after my £90 antec trupower 550W blew up after 6 months too! Waste of time trying to replace, company ignored all of my E-mails!!
