Can someone here who knows what he is doing post a complete manual on how to make a good back up of c&c Generals on a CD not just an Image please? So that the back up would work exactly like the original. Thanks
Afterdawn( aldaco12) has posted "sticky" threads on how to successfully backup cd protections. Backing up the latest cd protection(s) isn't easy as what you might think. You must have the proper hardware (burner) first and knowledge of what cd protection your backing up, not to mention what software to use as well. If you don't have the "right" burner to backup the latest cd protections, then you have to rely on emulation. Now you know why it is very difficult as mods to even attempt to help others backing up cd protection, especially when it comes to internet downloads of images. Shoey
andrew|ca, Have you tried to burn C&C Generals using BlindWrite 4.25 in DAO pw write mode with "enhance weak sectors" disabled? Have you tried to burn UT 2003 with a bwa file tucked in the bin& cue folder (CD1) using BlindWrite 4.25? Fire up BlindWrite 4.25>start cd writing wizard>nextlocate your burner>next. Here you load the [bold]cue[/bold]file and for file types, select All supported TOC formats or CDRWin TOC format, load your [bold]cue[/bold] file>next. Write mode is set at DAO pw and check "enable bwa file". Be sure [bold]UT 2003 bin& cue files are named UT2003_CD1 as well as your bwa file before burning[/bold] Shoey

Purchase the right hardware (Litey LTD 52x) and you can successfully backup Safedisc& SecuROM (at present). Shoey
ok so lite on is the best kind of burner? which model is the best? and if i had that which software is best to use?? thanks
I've used the LiteON 52x 24x 52x burner (LTR-52246S) with great success in backing up protected games.
The LiteON burners are the most recommended, but brands like Asus, MemorexMax, Polaroid BurnMax, and BTC burners will get the job done as well. Recommended progrms to backup SecuROM 4.8.x: 1) BlindWrite Suite (4.25)<The best version 2) CloneCD& TwinPeak Tool Recommended programs to backup Safedisc 2.8.x 1) Paddus DiscJuggler 2) Alcohol 120% 3) DiscDump& FireBurner 4) BurnAtOnce 5) CloneCD 6) BlindWrite Suite (4.25) Shoey
Thax Shoey! But I'm not interested in burning UT2003. My friend will burn me C&C-Generals. He has got one. And about UT2003, I don't want to hassle any more and I don't have much time on games. I'm not really a big fan of all these games.I just used to play Quake3 and I wanted to find something similar. But anyway I changed my mind because of all the other stuff I need to do and just enjoy playing demo sometimes. But anyway thank you very much, if I will have any other questions, I will definitely use your forum. Bye!
ok finally i checked the model # of my burner its: SONY CRX220E1 CD-RW 52x24x52 does that mean i cant back up Safedisc 2.8? CRX220E2 is in ur list but not E1...damn damn errr
You might rate your burner yourself, with a very simple test: http://clone.cd/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=6 But you should be able to backup SD 2.8 in all ways. The real difference between being able to make either a 'perfect' backup (which do not need emulation) or a 'working' backup (which needs emulation).
i did the test but i got a new messege not shown on the test site. It said: " Cannot copy sd251: Error performing inpage operation." ??????
Hey, I think I'm having the same (kinda!?) problem. I downloaded both Generals disks from the Net in ISO format, and I am having problems trying to get them to install. I've tried 2 things. 1st. I've used ISObuster to extract the files to 2 folders, CD1 and CD2, but get error messages when trying to run setup.exe or autorun.exe. I also tried with both CD's in same folder. No joy!!! Secondly, I used Nero 5.5 to burn image to 2 seperate CD's and install from there, as a friend suggested, but still no luck. This is 1.5 Gig of download which I do not want to waste. The fact that it does not even begin to install is the most frustrating part!!! Any tips/suggestions would be very much appreciated!!!
AcIdBuRnZ, Follow the guide to backup Safedisc 2.8.x. Try Alcohol 120& as your first choice. http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/23699 Shoey
Hi I read the thread you posted about the 1335 error during installations. I was wondering if you have found any solution for that error. I have tried every work around possible with no luck. I have tried the copying to a flat folder also de maxmem in msconfig with no solution. Until know the only thing i have noticed consistently is that is a problem with windows XP with computers with over 512 MB in RAM ....... I am not sure if its only with DDR 333 or if there is any other issue. Can you dish some light on me if you have any more info plz. It would be greatly appreciated I have tried every solution posted on the internet with no luck, can you provide something different!!! Please Bye
biggaboss, Backing up C&C Generals has nothing to do with memory or any windows o\s. It's the Safedisc 2.8.x that is causing havoc m8. Follow the guide to the link I previously posted and use Alcohol 120 to backup to hard disc. If you need emulation, go with Daemon Tools as many games are on both the CloneCD (hide cd-r} and Alcohol's 120 emulation options "blacklists". This news I just recently discovered at other forums I visit (CD-Freaks). Daemon Tools:http://www.daemon-tools.com/Frames/mainlowmid.htm Use the Safedisc& Laserlock emulation (if needed) to play your backup of C&C Generals (cd 1) if needed. Shoey
Hi Shoey, The problem I got is not backing up the game is installing the game. Also have the same problem installin Microsoft Money 2003, Aquaknox, Generals, and some more software. This wont let me install softwares with cab files that are considerably large, (100MB or above). I am completely clueless on what the problem might be, so I am seeking for your help or any one on this forum. Plz if its possible. Thank you
