This is the last I have found about the problem:

Problem: “Error 1335 The cabinet file Data.cab required for this install is corrupt.”
Cause: A bug in Microsoft Windows XP and the Microsoft Windows Installer Service.

Any idea on how to correct this? Full OS re-installation?? A windows XP Repair? Is there any way i can install the MWIS??

    Thank you.

I 've had that problem before here are 3 sugestions:
    1) Restart ur box and try it again if fails again
    2) Up date ur system that should clear that error (just open Internet Explorer and click the Tools tab then click "Windows Update". if fails
    3) Backup ur files and Reinstall windows and its a lot better if u format ur hard drive during the Reinstalation process. BUT make sure u have all ur drivers.
By the way it has nothing to do with memory

Double click My Computer then locate drive C:>right click>properties>Tools tab folder>error check> and check [bold] both [/bold] boxes and reboot your pc m8.

I have tried EVERYTHING in relation to installing c&c and dleta force bhd with alcohol 120. I am over wasting cd's so I have begun just mounting the image and trying to select various options (along with shoeys excellent advise) and run the installer that way, will that affect the way safedisk is read from the cd? Is there more updates in relation to alcohol and c&c? Thanx guys if I come up with anything ill let ya know

    Eckostorm,
Are you trying to backup the "original" cd's or internet downloads?> (iso, bin& cue)? What brand name burner do you own?

Thank you for your respect and for all others (members) too, I deeply appreciate!

I've tried making an image file for CD 1 of C&C Generals using Alcohol 120% and DiskDump. I've also tried using both of my cd drives for reading, a Samsung CD-ROM SC-148C and a HP DVD Writer 100j, which is also a CD-R/RW burner. However, every time during the image making process, I get an extreme amount of disc read errors(Alcohol 120%), or errors(DiskDump). I had it set to Safe Disk 2 datatype before I started the image making/dump, so it skipped all the errors, but still reported them in the log. Alcohol 120% went full speed, with the HP, 12x, but DiskDump was taking forever because it slowed down everytime it received an error. After Alcohol 120% finished, I used it to burn the image to a CD-R. It burned fine, however I couldn't install from it. Any help would be nice.

    Neef,
It is common to get "read errors" when reading Safedisc (bad sectors) so ignore them. Now that you read the image with your Samsung, burn the image using the Safedisc 2 datatype profile and play the backup in your Samsung drive. Be sure [bold] NOT [/bold] to uninstall Alcohol 120 while playing Safedisc 2.8.x backups and be sure "autorun" is enabled on your o\s m8. If for some reason the backup fails to play in your Samsung (it won't I assure you), then play in your HP with emulation options ticked "ignore media type& bad sectors".

Run Alcohol 120 in system tray with emulation options ticked "ignore media type& bad sectors". You only have the Philips burner, no dvd\cd-rom?

Did you read the image of C&C Generals (CD 1) with your dvd-rom? The backup should play in your dvd-rom as long as you used Safedisc 2 datatype profile to read and burn the image m8.
My backup of C&C Generals play on my Lite-On LTD 165H, Toshiba SD-M1502, and a generic Samsung 52x cd-rom.

Hey Shoey, thanks for the help. I'll be sure to try that. I did make one copy of CD 1 using the image making/burning method from Alcohol, but when I burned it, I tried exploring the cd to execute the install prog intead of doing Autorun and it froze my computer and I had to ctrl-alt-delete it to get it back to XP. After which I hastily restarted. :) But I'll try reading/dumping using the Samsung, burning with the HP, then playing on the Samsung. Thanks again!

Autorun [bold] needs to be enabled [/bold] on your o\s or your backup will most likely not install\play. Don't manually install the game= won't work.

Autorun is enabled by right clicking on the drive you want to enable, going to properties, autoplay tab, and then selecting what to do for each cd type right? If there's anywhere else I need to go to enable it, let me know please. Thanks again!

What's the problem, somebody help me.
Do I burn with other specific soft ?

I have scan both cd with Clony (1er safe disc 2.8 copy/mount with Discjuggler and the second not protected mount/burn with Alchool120%)

I have the best success backing up Safedisc 2.8.x-2.9 using Alcohol 120 1.4.3.519 using these settings& guidelines:
    1) Use the Safedisc 2 profile to read the image(s) to your hd using your [bold] dvd\cd-rom, not your burner [/bold]
    2) Play the backup in your dvd\cd-rom, not your burner.
    3) If you have only a burner then minimize Alcohol 120 to system tray and use these settings for emulation: "ignore media type& bad sector emulation".
    4) Don't uninstall Alcohol 120 when playing backups of Safedisc 2.8.x- 2.9 as your backup "might not work" in your drive(s), especially if you only have a cdrw drive! Autorun must be enabled or your backups won't play!

da_player, do you have autorun/autoplay enabled for the drive you're trying to read the backup with? You have to let the autorun menu pop up and play it that way I believe. BTW Shoey, I ended up having to use my burner to play Generals using Alcohol 120%'s emulation, but it works!
