There was another thread just like this in the ipod forum. The ipod fed into the amp was not loud enough and the music was loud enough be sounded like crap boosting it with a docking station before the amp. They finally settled on a Bose docking station then threw out the moderatly priced unit after hearing the Bose. Audio quality is as bad as the worst link. His cheap docking station was the problem not that he was amplifying the music twice. I suspect a Bose docking station is much cheaper than a preamp but did the trick for him.
Hey you proved me wrong! Well I will not spout that garbage anymore. Thanks! I don't want to spout garbage. Maybe it was a really space thing and not a audio quality plot. I have a small flash player and maybe they were trying to be helpful. Those are both very good but expensive sets. You paid top dollar for your hardware.
Hey Mez, I found something interesting in iTunes while setting up my daughter's iPod shuffle. There's an option that does exactly what you talked about wrt changing the file size - option is "convert higher bit rate songs to 128 kbps AAC". I guess it's setup to maximize the limited space on the smaller units - I didn't have that option for my iPod classic. Nice call!
Blck_123, great posting! This would be better posted else where. I would post it as a new thread in the ipod forum. That way persons wanting to learn about Cucusoft will be able to find it. If I were looking for that kind of info I would never look in an audio forum under an old thread trying to boost the sound on an ipod. It would be unusual for anyone that wanted to read about your topic would find it hear. Half the posters in this thread are familiar with Cucusoft. It has been on the market for many years. If you have owned an ipod for 6 months you are probably not shopping for video converters anymore. By the way I did not buy Cucusoft because it skips the AVI step which is a huge design flaw. If the source is not perfect you can correct the problem by cleaning up the AVI files. Otherwise you are just screwed. I personnaly try to avoid getting screwed.
