Funny that, we pay a licence fee also in Ireland!
Anyway. Time will tell mate. Hopefully they will make the UK unique in this case.
    Good chatting mate.

Tony, RTE is partially funded from the licence fee and the BBC is fully funded by the licence fee. RTE have to broadcast FTA in Ireland and are currently starting to put in place DTT as required by the EU directive by 2012. BBC are currently running on DTT digitally in UK. The only stipulation with regard to cable in each EU state is they must provide analogue or digital channels of partially/fully state funded broadcasters to the public without any extra equipment needed. Does this answer this finally?

My apologies that should have said 'Public' funded not 'state'.

Where is the proper source that states that 'part of our license fee, we get the BBC chans and UTV / Chan 4 as a basic line'. I want your or someone else to prove that the RoI licence fee entitles RoI viewers to watch the BBC's output.

Talking of digital and analogue and cable etc is irrelevant to what's being claimed and to my questions about what's being claimed.

To be honest I can't be bothered 'proving' anything. I have read up totally on all this a year or so ago from official sources. I suggest you do similar. All the information is out there. Dinner time.

As I said. We'll know in time when either all the channels will be black screen on your box or they won't. Talk then.

    As I suspected.

I've had a look and I can find nothing to prove that the RoI TV/Radio licence fee entitles RoI payers to view BBC output, as you and your mate claim.

I can't find it because it's not there. It's bullshit.

If it isn't prove it, because it's difficult for me to prove that something doesn't exist.

How long do you want to give it? A month? Two? I've already had them since early December when the N1 stream was withdrawn?

You've been shown up, oh wise one.

How long do you want to give it before I pull this one up again and show you up?

You can't show it because I never said that smart guy. See that seems to be the problem here, you don't read things properly. And don't call me 'Oh wise one' there are a lot more wise than I on here and I only try to help when I can. You tried to feed wrong information on here and I tried to be polite and point out where you were wrong without any negative comments to yourself.

if I may, I said that when we pay for our tv license in ireland, that covers the owning of the TV in your house, this money goes to RTE in partial for programming etc, on a basic aerial you can pick up BBC/UTV/RTE/TV3 / TG4 and some parts of ireland get S4c etc free of charge depending where you are, did I say our license fee entitles us to the bbc? no i didnt, what I did say or should have expanded on, was once you pay for your TV license, this gives you the right to use said TV in your house, stick a hanger in the back and voila, you will get about 4 to 5 chans, connect it to a bigger aerial and you will get a basic line up of chans which i mentioned, which are free to pick up, no sub, no nothing to be paid. maybe I should have spelt it out or expanded a bit better, I apologize on that one, save you rooting about the net trying to contradict people, try loosening your sphincter muscle once in a while tony, seriously, ya seem to be taking things to personal.

I get the feeling he's just into argueing and contradicting. Then acting like a know-it-all even though he couldn't be bothered to read correctly and in the end the only one 'shown up' was himself and by his own means.

I assumed you were trying to answer this question.

I think you tried to answer it and then realised it was a load of bull. Now you're trying to weasel out of it.

I'll assume you'll agree with me that the comment is rubbish then?

That's all I was asking. I have my answer. Was it that hard?

Come back when you have something useful and accurate to contribute. In the meantime, go back to your trainspotting hobby you had before the new encryption started. I hope you and MICKAH are very happy on the end of the platform.

and this is coming from the Afterdawn Robocop who tells other folk that they are rude and ignorant to other posters when he sees fit, but yet its ok for him to do it when he feels like it, Mooley presented a valid reply, I expanded on mine, but he now takes to offering insults cause he doesnt get his own way....... Like I said tony relax the sphincter and try stop talking out of it, you are only showing what you really are, an idiot who trys to jump on something to prove their own worth,

@ Mooley, your better of not responding to this guy, he is the guy in the pub who doesnt shut up till you agree with him and keeps going and going, let em troll a few other threads so he can feel wanted and listened to

Think it just gets to him that we can pick up the BBC's here without having to pay a UK TV licence as well. How sad!
