Converting DRM-Protected .m4v files to .avi

As already covered an m4v is just an mp4, so renaming to mp4 is fine. Renaming to avi, etc. doesn't make it so though. As for the whole WMP bit. In this case I would say that the files aren't DRM'ed.

 

WMP will not play DRM protected m4v files.

 

In order to convert protected m4v you need some of drm removal tool. I used drm-removal (do not remember: url drm-removal com or biz - ask me, will find order and give to you). But I used for itunes audio. According to description, it can convert protected video as well. Surely there are tons of such utilities. Output format in avi is divx. Tell me, if you need more details on what this software produce as output

 

Just a thought. maybe could you burn your itunes video on to a dvd, then use anydvd and burn them back on your computer? Just a though, if anyone tries let us know. I would but last time i had anydvd installed i had to reformat my comp

Answer: Simply use a program called "Drm Removal". Visit their site at http://www.drm-removal.com/st.php There you can read about it. I bought the program to bypass all this crap.

Conclusion: This program will play your protected drm file and re-record it for you unprotected.

Please let me know if this worked for you as i can not try it as i dont have a drm protected video file. It has worked for my drm protected mp3 files though. I use rhapsody incase you want to know.

Oh sorry man, been playing Bioshock and all you hear in that game is the name of the mythical city "Rapture" the whole time, and I guess it bled over into my subconscious.

If you want to try it out, download any video in iTunes and it saves it to your comp as a protected file.

 

I would have to buy a video right? If so let me know. If not let me know too. Cause i have a 30 day trial with rhapsody and it lets me download the songs to me computer. So all i do is launch my drm removal program and it re-records them to my computer. Let me know please.

 

The Program will only remove DRM from videos if you buy the $40 program. or so it looks. I can't speak to it working since I don't have $40 lying around.

I'll throw my 2 cents in. Try Tunebite Platinum. It works with Windows Media Player and ITunes to play music and video files and create a non-DRM file.

 

I have a free solution.

It may not be has hands off as tunebite, but if you don't want to pay the money then just use windows encoder. (free from microsoft website)

Start encoding the window or the certain section where the video is playing.
I suggest using quicktime instead of iTunes, because quicktime doesn't slow down your computer as much and makes the encoding process easier.

I Disagree since I am able to do it.

as long as you have permission to watch the protected file, then windows encoder will work.
This is because windows encoder does not open and convert the protected file. it rerecords the file as it is being played.

just pick the window you want to record and it will do it.
