I use Memorex DVD+R 4x speed bought in the 25 pack. These have almost always worked. This appears to be the same problem adam is having. Mine only does this occasionally. The new one has only done it once.It will burn the DVD,then it has to read the disc before finalizing it. A circle slash comes up and the readout on the unit says error.A coaster has effectively been made. I realize that DVD recording is still imperfect at this time. This new unit has done pretty well except for that one time.I have one DVD player that will play back a cyberhome DVD+RW.My computer DVD drives won't play a DVD+RW so far,but they will do DVD+R.I haven't tried any other manufacturers of DVD+RW.I have DVDit software on my compaq and if I could get the RW to play,I could re -author to DVD-R.
RMA update...... After receiving my repaired unit from CyberHome, I am happy to report that currently there are no problem issues....no stuck discs left in drawer overnite, no coasters, good tuner audio, etc. I applied the latest BIOS updates without incident. So far, so good. Durability remains to be seen, however. At this point, am happy to report that I am pleased. BTW, Maxell +R discs seem to be the best for me.....Those recorded on the 1500 will play on all the players I've tested. The CyberHome +RW discs do too....lesson leared here....DO NOT USE CHEAP MEDIA!
