find out because it is either borrow 1 or buy 1 with no guarantee it is the psu causing the problem.

Depending on the psu corsair has 3 to 7 year warranty. Mine actually has 5 years as do the majority of there psus.

Anyways had to take evrything to a local shop and turns out it was the ram. They put somekingston in there and booted fine. Now that I think about it, odd they say that because it wouldn't even post with no ram in but I rmaed the ram so we will see.

"They put some kingston in there and booted fine" - Amazing...usually kingston memory only makes a system get worse.

beeps only, no post as cpu needs memory to post.

ok been awhile so I couldn't remember. None the less, in this case it wasn't giving 3 beeps with no ram. Stil on,off,on,off. However he said he hooked up a hardware card of some kind that got down to bios level and it was no doubt the ram.

Guess we will find out soon enough. There's been a lot of problems with g skill ripjaws latley @ the msi forums.

Atleast I didn't listen to the girl working the counter. She didn't realize you needed to pull the tab up on the pci-e lane for the video card to be removed. She said I needed atleast an 800 watt psu and thought a 4890 was a "pretty new" video card. Granted she was a sales person not a tech but still. Maybe she got the job cause of her looks. :p

Well looks like they didnt bother testing the psu. I popped in some new memory, and it starts to get power to everything but then the lights on the video card and mobo slowly fade off and die in a matter of seconds so here i am going to fill out a new rma after i head back in the shop tomorrow and raise hell.

EDIT:Looks like my cpu fan, a Scythe S-Flex21E, which was running off Sys Fan 1 on the mobo. As soon as i unhooked the fan she powered up fine. I tested the psu using a paperclip and it worked fine on its own.

New problem. Well sort of. Started freezing up. Checked event log and found an error about cdsys or something like that related to B,s recorder gold. Deleted the registry entry and dll as instructed on the slysoft forums. Pc ran fine for over 8 hours while I slept and then froze out of the blue. Now I can't get it to post. First it was jsut quick reboots as I described before. So I disconected.everything but my ssds,4890,ram,cpu and heat sink. I was able to atleast get the inital msi screen but just sits there and never posts. I suspected the cpu fan but it won't post with it disconected so it must be something else.

keep ssd's offline, try 1 stick of ram at a time in each slot. does motherboard also have onboard video?

No video on mobo. Tried one stick of ram, but on the 1156 sockets you have to run the memorey in the second slot and fourth slot for dual channel. The boards won't post if you put sticks in slots 1 or 3. The memorey is brand new kingston value ram.

brand new doesn't mean anything as i've had 2 customers with brand new pc's with bad ram. can you borrow 2 sticks of ram to see what happens?
