It doesn't seem that GSpot recognizes the codec .You say you can play this file with VLC? Try converting to whatever you want using Any Video Converter, see if it will open it. If you want to ultimately put it on DVD, convert to a DVD video(PAL or NTSC, depending on your region). http://www.any-video-converter.com/products/for_video_free/
That worked fantasticly, THANK YOU! But... One of the files gives me an error message when I try to add it to DVDFLick. It says something about no usable video in the file, and will not add it. I've converted it twice now with the Any Converter, it says complete, plays fine on the computer. Am I just out of luck on that last file? Thanks again
try changing it to something else and see if that fixes it.. xvid in a mpeg4 avi should work well.. avidemux is very easy to use IF you read the wiki.
