That worked perfect - cheers - all the EPG data populates immediately! Getting a hard drive tomorrow - thats another days work though
I'm 99% sure it is - just need to figure out how to get the box to recognise it and then how to setup recording etc
Box working fine now since I reseated the tuner - cheers. Only problem is that the scan hasn't picked up any HD channels apart from BBC, Lux & Rush. Is there anyway to manually get these or specify a particular frequency range??
The 3 channels you mentioned are freeview,...does the scan pickup the names of the other HD channels but just displays a blank screen when you try to watch them ? if so that would point to your cardsharing setup not giving access to the HD subscription channels,...OR does the scan pickup nothing at all about the other HD channels ?....when using dreambox edit I notice that the HD channels are seen as DATA & not regular TV channels.
Scan doesn't pick them up at all - the auto scan picks up about 1100/1200 channels but none of the other HD channels for some reason. So in my HD Bouquet the only channels are the I mentioned, but also if I go through the entire channel list, they're not there either
yes,....don't forget the FEC & v/h settings.....ie: Sky Sports HD 1 settings are freq 11798 H SR=29500 FEC = 3/4
From another forum,..."Many clone users have this issue - HD channels won't work until the tuner warms up. There is a long discussion on this on 8a8f8. Some suggest to replace the capacitor C1 on the tuner board (one guy reported that he made 4 boxes to work after this fix). I ordered C1 (1000uF 6.3V) and should be getting it on monday. I will let you know if it helped. BTW - this issue concerns ONLY DVB-S2 channels, DVB-S HD channels like BBC HD work fine."
you could go for a new tuner ! others owners with ongoing tuner problems have got new alps dvb-s2 tuners here, http://www.bsc-sat.de/cgi-bin/shop.dll?SESSIONID=0495498863281682&AnbieterID=1
I've tried the scan with a variety of settings, but a sample one below: Tuner: Tuner A: .....(DVB-S2) Type: Single TP Sys: DVB-S2 Satellite: Astra 28.2 Freq: 11720 Inversion: Auto Sy Rt: 29500 Polarity: Horizontal FEC: 3/4 Net Scan: No Clear b4 Scan: No Only Free Scan: No ---------- It continually finds 0 services - it always found all the HD Channels before If I can't resolve, I may have to look at the two alternative solutions you posted.
why not check that the feed it ok by trying another box first, then do a factory reset on your box and reset back up and then install a channel list with all the channels already scanned with the correct frequencies. You can usually download a settings list from the remote.
I'm gradually getting some of the HD channels through an automatic scan. Thanks for the assistance. I've put a 160Gb hard drive in and that's initialised and recording fine. I have two problems with it: 1. If I'm recording a movie on one channel and switch to another channel, I get an error 'No free tuner' - I thought I could watch other channels? 2. The options in the manual for recording through EPG don't seem to work - can anyone suggest any easy way?
Your getting more HD channels, do you find the box picks up more HiDef if you let it heat up for 30mins or more, or is it better to scan from cold ?...the 800 has only 1 tuner so you can't watch one channel & record another,...the 8000 has two tuners but it's expencive & the (china) clone version not available until 2010.
I did a scan yesterday evening after plugging in the hard drive - say about ten minutes after being powered on - so I guess it was still cold - I've got a couple of the Movie channels in HD and a few more are 'half listed' in the EPG - by half listed I mean I can see the programme details in the Web EPG, but not the channel title. That makes sense about the one tuner alright! Whats the best way to record so? Enter in a start and end time by pressing the Red button and leave it on the channel, or use EPG?
