free space 8gb total space 19gb .After deleting the movies that I backed up ,I deleted them for space to burn the next dvd.I have700mhz processer,64mb memory.
MEMOREX! FUJIFILM! Oh Man..good thing for you Scuba Pete's not around, lol. Coochie, have you carefully read all the posts in this thread? Especially about the importance of using Ritek or verbatim media? Just because you got two good burns with Memorex disks doesn't mean all will be good. Maybe they will, probably they won't...the cheap stuff can be very inconsistant. Thats why the first question I asked was what brand media were you using. It sounded like a classic example of a defective (read cheap)disc. Now, still provide us with the rest of the information I asked for, and then go buy at least one verbatim or ritek GO 4 DVD+/-RW disc(if available) like ScubaPete (and me) said, and we'll take it from there, ok? And don't get discouraged, I think there's an easy fix to your problem. Doohickey
ripping and decoding dvds requires a big hard drive , personally i have 120 gig , i would recomend you install one iff you can , also 64 meg off memory needs to be increased as decoding a dvd for a 700 processer can be taxing , i would recommend putting in at least a stick of 256 or even better 512 then you should be ok )
also ritek discs that use the go4 dye are probally your best bet. its what i use with 99% reliability
also use shrink for ripping and decoding and nero for burning . iff shrink encounters a rare problem ripping the use dvd decripter . all guides are available at this site . happy burning )
64mb's of ram? wow it must take you weeks to rip, shrink, and burn Yes doohickey, murdog said memorex too dont feel bad about the wrong choice of media coochie.i have over a 100 tdk's that i found out werent good after i found this forum. even if they work now there is a thing called laser rot(im not kidding)your discs may not work in the near future jim
i dont think that anydvd causes conflicts but roxio does, with most burning apps. do you see any roxio stuff? (if so,slay the demon roxio) jim
oops, forgot about your other question. AnyCD should not cause problems as long as it wasn't running at the time...however, any Roxio (by Ahead Software) software (like easy cd creator)installed can very well cause problems. Have a good look at your program menu and make sure there is no Roxio or Ahead entries. And while your looking around, see if there is anything else you don't really need or use much. You need to free up some more space if you can. Then you really should defrag your hard drive before trying another DVD backup. It's too early to say for sure if the problem was cheap media, but you can rule that out if you don't USE cheap media. It could very well be a lack of resource problem. You are pushing your system to the limit, for sure. As woof811 said, AT LEAST 256MB of memory is recommended for this job. ...................Doohichey
glad to see you here helping out, doohickey!! we can always use somebody with your sense of humor here. sorry i wont hijack ya no more lol happy trails jim
