    ok dsouth
You may not be burning the ps2 right but there I can be of no help so check out the ps2 forum for programs and how to do them:
    http://forums.afterdawn.com/forum_view.cfm/115

Rule that option out for the games.

Now the movies should not give an error either though (they may play ok but this may be leading to something else w/ your drive).
Like attar said this error could be a hardware one. So try running a lens cleaner on the drive and try another brand of media.
You could also burn the movie w/ nero and post the log for us to take a look like attar also suggested.

    Hi Dsouth
Don't know where your located but in order of price (lowest to highest) I would recommend: BenQ, LiteOn or Plextor.
