bruwery, lol, you're right, a lot of it does sound crazy and if I went into detail explaining, it would take an answer longer than yours by twofold. lol

Let's just say, the bottom line is, if it works for you and you're happy, then that's all that really matters(but there are some screwy things goin on indicated from your post,ie. shrink WILL work without compressing, decrypter WILL do a one to one copy under 4.7g in ISO, and nero WILL burn using all 3).

I am curious about one thing tho, DVD43 isn't free unless you use the old 1.4 version with patin couffin. And Nero isn't free either unless you're reloading it every month. Only shrink and decrypter are truly free.

Also, the blue screen is not good, something is bad wrong if you're getting that repeatedly, i would hate to see your PC crash. You've got a good PC, I have the same one, only I have the P4-2.80ghz, and 280g of hard drive.

You even might want to consider adding a HD(even external) for video work. 30g is not much when you consider movies easily reach 10g's and it's also doing all your other PC work too.

You can get a 40-80g HD for 40.00 or 50.00 nowadays. For instance, I bought a Seagate 80gig HD at Best Buys just a couple a months ago for 38.00, added a external case for 20.00 and had a external 80g HD for 58.00! Not a bad investment. A PC needs room to move around, especially for video work, it's THE MOST resource intensive thing a PC can do.

BTW, I've got "Guaranteed to Copy any DVD With Perfect Quality Every Time Using Only One Click Regardless of Your Hardware Configuration", it doesn't work. lol

    Big O,

    I'm laughing my backside off.

You're right about the hard drive, and I've been toying with the idea for months, but just can't bring myself to buck up. I was going to do it when I was trying to capture video from satellite TV, but the quality wasn't good enough and I abandoned the project after countless hours of tweaking settings and encountering frustration. I've seen claims from people who profess to getting DVD quality with the AIW card I have, but I've tried all their settings with disappointing results.

You're also right about DVD43 - I have the older version, but the Patin Couffin or whatever it's called hasn't caused me any noticeable problems so far. It seems like I read somewhere that the newer one that costs money was't from the same author as the original.

    Regarding your comment:

[bold]shrink WILL work without compressing, decrypter WILL do a one to one copy under 4.7g in ISO, and Nero WILL burn using all 3).[/bold]

You're right. At least that's how it seems to work for most people. My hunch is that my problems probably lie mainly in the SP2 Service Pack, and the older version of Nero. However, I tried Nero 6, and got a blue screen EVERY time I try to access it. I couldn't figure it out, so I uninstalled it and tabled the problem for a rainy day.

I've had intermittent blue screens since installing the DVD burner last year. They were really bad when I first installed it, but a firmware upgrade seeemd to solve that problem. They're occasional now that I'm copying DVD's, but I'm just not versed enough in computers to understand what it all means.

Can it cause a permanent hardware problem - i.e. blow the motherboard or something?

My write media is Verbatim Datalife.

    Big O:

Also, my Nero was free only because it came bundled with my DVD burner drive. Along with several other programs (B's Gold, Roxio, and Sonic My DVD) that I think are crap. Sonic is okay for small projects, (creating slide shows out of photos) but I don't like the other two.

My guess is the drive is causing the blue screens, and I may simply replace it if the problem worsens. It was the cheapest "all-in-one" drive out there when I bought it last year. Now that you can get a 4x burner for the cost of a beer and a doughnut, I can probably upgrade...

bruwery, I think it's time to invest in a little hardware, lol.

You're right about those other apps, especially roxio, it doesn't like to share with anyone. Don't DL it, it causes problems with other apps.
