From my experience with VHS, movies in Europe and North America are recorded in PAL (or MESECAM) and NTSC respectevely. I expect the same thing taking place with DVD recording. The problem appeared after some avi files were converted to DVDs. Some recorded DVDs did not play on all DVD players, others played on all of them. Any idea why? Roma
Roma, VHS tapes are NOT Digital, they are [bold] Analog, [/bold] which is the older TV format you watch. Keep in mind that VHS Tapes were universal when blank but, once recorded, they were in the format of the Player which did the recording (Pal or NTSC) AVI is Digital. The different formats are supposed to be Standard world wide. However, you might find some early AVI files which do not match the current standards. Also, some of the early conversion files (AVI to DVD) were not very good and the output was NOT always 100 percent compatible with every player on the market.. This is not the right forum for this discussion, so let's take it to one that deals with AVI conversions or Advanced DVD editing work.. - Mike -
Hello Mike, I do not know how to take the discussion to another place. Sorry. As for the standards, vsoDivxTo DVD offers a choise of "Automatic", "Forced PAL", or "Forced NTSC". Thank you for the explanations. Best wishes, Roma
