Thanks brobear for making some excellent points. I'm still looking for the white piexels, but your find does correlate with points made by frisk and I believe you both. It could be caused by any number of things but usually it's either the media or the medica used with a particular burner, and even the player itself could be partially to blame. I tried DVD43 for a few days and then asked my self, why is it even installed? It's redundant. You still need to use a ripper and rippers decrypt. I also don't are for applications that run in the background. Below is a link to a post made by AD's administrator regarding the qualit of various media. http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/12824
@sophocles "Not to be put-off I've emailed them describing the problems that have been reported by members of AD and I am waiting for a reply" They never answer any mail or if they do they answer always that they never have heard about this problem..... And again please note it's not a media problem as the big white blocks are already there when I view the ripped movie from HD using PC DVD-Player (Power DVD). By the way here is a sample of the big white blocks: http://69.50.228.78/test.jpg I never had any proplems like this using Shrink, DVD2One, Elby Clone DVD in combination with AnyDVD or Decrypter. So it's not the problem that I can't copy my DVD's but the quality of the two movies (out of six) that worked using IV DVD copy Platinum 2 was amazing Quality of Shrink, Clone DVD or DVD2one is good but not as good as IV DVD would be.......
I seem to have had better luck using DVDCopy then some have had and 7 of 7 is not a bad result. It's ironic but the only time that I've seen those artifacts was with a store bought DVD, it just didn't want work in my old player. I've no intention of buying DVDCopy at this time unless intervideo can explain this phenomenon.
I agree Ronrice but I find that each brings something new to the table. Some take less time to setup, some are faster, and some produces better picture quality on larger files.
Ronrice, I was working with 'Return of the King'. Checked the file on the hard drive and it was good. The pixel was noticable but nothing like the screen shown by the URL you posted. My situation had to be media or player. On replay the pixels disappeared. I've had situations before where replay corrected a skip problem. Somehow the laser changed something in the media. I don't have a clue as to what changes in the disc. This is a Samsung DVD player and it continues to give excellent service. I'm starting to wonder if I may have suffered a power surge, but the unit is on a good suppressor. Anyone have an idea on the vanishing pixel?
I did the same copy tht brobear did and I was able to play it on all three of my DVDs as well as in my Pextor and Samsung combo drive. Brobear I think that I'm going to give recode another try, Nero's been updated more than once since my last try and it just might work this time. _X_X_X_X_X_[small]"Once you eliminate the impossible, whatever remains, no matter how improbable, must be the truth." Hey Sophocles, Easy to access through CopyToDVD to. Now this one actually works good with AnyDVD. I've used it with HD files and disc drives, worked good both ways. I do like having my files on HD so I can check if anything goes wrong. DVD Decrypter set to only deal with region, CSS, and Macro is the way to go. Leaves the entire file on the HD in full size and allows the program the full files for editing. Another thing nice about using files from the HD, it gives the old laser a chance to rest
Yes CopyToDVD is a lazy mans dream, not dragging and dropping just go to the ripped file then click and burn.
v 1.4.0 Need to clean up the DVD43 fiasco before I start working more with DVD2one. It has interesting possibilities, but I haven't used it enough to make an educated decision yet. Too many toys and the old bear is starting to get confused.
Actually all you have to do is open it and click next, then go to copy mode and choose whether you want to keep the full disk or movie only. Don't bother with compression mode, variable rate works fine. Then tick the little box "burn with CopyToDVD, give any name you want. Hit next and choose only the audio tack yo want to keep. Then hit nest and go grab a coffee, beer, soda or whatever and come back in about 40 minutes and collect your DVD. Version 1.4 also has a feature for joinkg files, you can undo those DVDXcopy two disk copies and put thenm back on 1 disc.
That last line hit the nail on the head. I used it enough to use the controls. I was joining 2 disks together and got the order reversed. Coaster, I hate knowing the end of a movie before I know what happened in the beginning. The picture quality was good, I'm just going to have to watch what I'm doing. The joining process is just a bit more than the easy settings. I was in a hurry an not paying enough attention. It was also well into the cocktail hour. As I said, I'll eventually get time. From what I've seen, it does a good job under high compression. And right now there seems to only be a couple of other kids on the block in the heavy weight (high compression) fighting category, Recode and WinDVD
Since my last post I've already ripped and burned a 6.6 DVD using Decrypter, and Nero recode in only 34 minutes from start to end including prep time (love my new Plextor). Now I just have to check it for quality.
Now you know why I like decrypter and Recode. AnyDVD would speed the process up but would eliminate the HD file. That new 'Racy' drive makes everything come together. You can't beat good quality, especially when its fast. I bet it turned out good.
I may have lost a little quality going for speed but recode has an equivalent to Shrinks Deep scan. I'll try that next.
brobear, as I posted to the other threads you've complained on, you must go down to the lower right-hand side of your Monitor screen, near the clock. You'll see a smiley face there, right click your mouse on that and choose "Close." DVD43 will close. To remove - Go to ""Start", Control panel, Add and Remove programs - locate DVD43 and choose "remove, it will be removed.
