I wanted to make sure i got the free lifetime updates also i was/I'm paranoid about the free version being pulled now or sometime in the future but who knows lol.and i liked the moblie option (I-Pod) plus i can backup console games too!! so i thought it was well worth the 50.00 dollars, I think most would agree

That's pretty much the same reasoning i had behind purchasing Platinum. I wanted the lifetime updates, i may use the mobile option once in a while for my Zune too.

I wasn't sure whether or not the free version would stick around or not. And frankly, i felt it was time to give back a little.

As Zoso said...well worth the $50.00.

    born2ride...
Sad you couldn't buy before it began carrying a yearly renewal fee. I was glad to have picked it up before then.

But you got AnyDvd before the price hike, right?

Maybe you're brother will let you rip a few on DvdFab Platinum. :D

I have both. AnyDVD/CloneDVD is far superior, but the A/C combo is twice as expensive as Fab Platinum. I bought Fab first. I use A/C almost 100% of the time, but I'm glad I have both. There have been times, not often, that each will rip dvds the other just will not. Having both is a real sanity check. Depends on how much ripping you do, I guess. If you're seriously into it, having both is not excessive.

Couldn't agree more on this one. Every now and again you get something picky and having a variety of apps around is like having plenty of tools in the toolbox. I have quite a few programs around as well. None of them sit dormant for very long.

I had been using the free/trial versions of dvdfab for a lil under 2 years now and decided to finally buy the platinum version about 7 months ago. I really like the ease of use, the burning capability, and the diffent mobile options, which I use from time to time. All that (along with the free updates) made me finally decide to purchase dvdfab platinum.

Even tho I have been a member for a few months now, I have been a lurker for the past 2yrs on these message boards. I just wanna say thanks for all the advice I have seen here (which has answered just about all my ripping and burning questions) and which I've passed on to others.

    ok guys I'm confused lol

I updated my dvdfab platiumn(which i bought before may 8th) and the keycode i had wouldn't work. I had to email them to get the keycode so the updated version was lifetime. do i have to do this every update?(email them) or I'm I doing something wrong? lol

When you click on the about button, under the Expire Time it should say Never Expire.

Initially i had a problem too, but it got resolved pretty quick and hasn't been an issue since then. So you're not the only one Zoso.

I think the FAB team will get this "kink" worked out quickly as now they will have doubly ticked off consumers who a. purchased to get the lifetime free upgrades and b. those same people who are now having problems updating properly. TBH, I think it's a flawed system...I mean fengtao and ting now have three member bases to keep track of; the lifetimers, the yearly folks and the freebie folks. I would imagine it could be dizzying to keep up with it all on top of tweaking the programs to work with the new titles.

Loco, the accounting is in the key code. The lifetimes have a special insert in their key code that tells fab "nerver expire" while the yearly licensee do not have this added insert. Fab looks for this insert code in the license key. The freebies default to the free version after 30 days when Fab sees no license key.

I'm fairly optimistic that Fengtao and Ting will have this cleared up pretty soon. They're getting plenty of feedback on it, i'm sure.
