And he was stating his opinion, which happens to be different than yours. I don't understand what the problem with that is. This forum is for discussion isn't it?

Personally I've never used any version of Recode (was going to use the trial version but it kept telling me I didn't have a license so I gave up) so I won't comment on what kind of a job it does. I can say that I think everyone should start with programs that either are free or they already own. If you dont own Nero that means DVD Shrink and DVD Decrypter. If you own Nero it's a good idea to add that into the mix as well. Many people buy software before they even know enough to ask the right questions (and don't ask me what those questions are because they're different from one person to another). If you want better quality or different features than those programs can give you, it's time to start looking for software that does what you want. If the programs you already have (or can get for free) do eveything you want, there's no reason to switch.

samintx, Now that darthnip has everything under control(thanx darthnip) I will respond to your question. Some people use Roxio and have no problems, most here in AD seem to prefer Nero. (there is a thread here, not sure where, where people voted and I think 100% voted for nero).

The one thing I am sure of is, if you are happy, that's all that matters.

You might want to give nero a shot, you can use it for free each and every month for the entire month. It must be loaded again for each month til you buy. You can get Nero Ultra 6 at the Nero homepage, also load update packs 1,2, and 4 for Ultra 6. Do not load 3(it causes headaches). Ultra 6 is a shed for many programs that deal with all your video and audio needs plus cover design, PC backup, Toolkit, etc......

One final note, Nero and Roxio do NOT get along with each other. They most likely will cause problems when coexisting on the same PC, if you do decide to try nero, I would completely remove all of your roxio components.

    Happy blazing!

Hmm! What is it about our threads that draws so many discontented and unkind people. Maybe we need to post a message stating that we aren't trying to change their religion or politics.

darthnip you and Praetor are the best but you might want to share. LOL

Sophocles, ya think it's us and we just draw 'em like a big huge trash magnet? At least at home when you take the trash out it stays out. Here the mods will have to watch out for the trash changing it's name to something like, oh I don't know, say garbage and reappearing.LOL

I didn't quite understand the outburst. This was a pretty tame discussion so far. Probably 10 years old.

I like nero and still use it but there is no doubt that Remake is a dramatic improvement in reauthoring for those who desire it. Both programs fill a need.
I bought Remake for use with rebuilder but it is a nice general purpose DVD fixer upper. It was worth every penny.

Thanks everybody for your responses, I recently bought DVDRemakePro, because i enjoy reauthoring and well ever since i discovered dvd-r recording its been an obsession of mine, i am very pleased with it, what i would like to see here though is a guide beginner and advanced for dvdremake, since i know how to remove extras and such but the one thing that irks me is Interleaving and Multiangles i still am having trouble with those, i have always trusted the guides here at afterdawn and they have never let me down, i read that vurbal is in the works with one and would soon like to see it soon posted in the guides section again thanks to everyone here not only do you guys make it interesting but fun too.

Aero, congrats. You will like remake pro, I think it is the best editing prog out there today. And, as I said before, it works so well with other apps, especially RB/CCE.

Well, you guys know you're a 'big fly magnet' when I show up.

Vurbal just recently got out v 1 of the DVDRemake guide and it looks pretty good.

I thought this thread had died. Aero, I'm with bigo on DVDremake, there just isn't any better editing prog for that kind of money anywhere.

I have used CCE & Rebuilder to compress 2 DVD's so far. The first one compressed the dvd from 5.6 gigs down to 3.02. The DVD plays fine but It is not utilizing the extra space. On the second run I used DVDremake and hid all the blocks I didn't want. I then used Rebuilder and CCE to compress it. After the compression was finished the DVD had only been compressed to 4.9 gigs and will not fit on a DVD5. What am i doing wrong?

Wiggin78 ... more info is needed. Please be sure to answer all of these.
    1. What version of CCE do you have installed, and if this is a purchased version, have you ever had any other versions (trial, test, etc.) of CCE installed?
    2. What DVD are you working with?
    3. What program did you use to rip the files
    4. Did you use the Afterdawn guide to set up RB-CCE?
    5. In your Rebuilder folder there is a 1 kb configuration file. Please post this info.

Sorry it took so long to post this info.

    1. I have CCE Basic version 2.69. I have had the demo and had the dem o installed. But I tried the same config on antoher virgin pc and a 5.08 gig file was shrunk to 3.7.

    2. THe most recent DVD I tried it with is The Punisher but it also happened with Jurassic park and Startrek The Movie.
    3. I used DVD Decrypter to rip the files.

    4. Yes I did use the afterdawn guide.

Wiggin78...here is my latest RB configuration file for comparison. Yours should be very similar. I have also noted that the idct7Opt=0 below also shows a value of =1 on other encodes.

You can't use CCE basic trial version with DVDrebuilder.
If you wish to try before purchasing you can use CCEsp trial version but it requires additional setup.

LOL, missed all the fun. Tony reminds me of this thread here which was rather amusing along with others the idiot posted in :D. The guy even rejoined the next day with a new username and flipped again once I realised his new identity. Guys like this must live very sad lives indeed

@Aero300, what problems are you having with multiangles/interleaving?
