Step # 1 - Delete Roxio. It's about as friendly as the plague.
Remove all Roxio tentacles and tendrils with Roxio Zapper –

    Find it here:

    http://www.microadvantage.net/downloads/zapper60.zip

Then use this guide for doing your DVD backups.

BTW, you may have used your media before for CD copying BUT DVD's are another story.

You want to use RiData, Ritek G04's, Sony, TDK OR verbatim DataLife.

Using other media like Memorex is asking for trouble as its quality control is piss poor.

Your choices are easy, follow our suggestions and get excellent burns or don't and collect a major amount of coasters :(

Let me know how you make out, OK ?

    Cheers,

    Pete

    BTW, Welcome to aD :)

Mr first blank DVD's I bought were Memorex...Out of 20 I have about 12 coasters...so far no coasters with Ritek (Ridata).

    deanne,

There's some times when I hear,

When the theme song from the "Twilight Zone" runs through my head and I think, This guy has got to get himself a new drive -

My friend, This is one of those times -

Best of luck my friend, Best of luck -

    Pete

Sometimes or not - It still makes no difference, A drive shouldn't make sounds no matter what -

Finally, when doing DVD's for video backups if you don't wish to take our advice then please don't complain when your ,
    give you problems.

We've told you our experiences have proven to us - there is no cure for crappy media. Some will work some will not (but look how much money you're saving) -

Your noisy drives requires attention (probably replacement) and your media needs to be upgraded -

    Cheers
