i read your post, and you are 100 per cent correct as far as i am concerned now, but how can you do this?

Fix any xbox to manufacturing condition

by using the chip to boot to original bios?
if so, i am done softmodding, i will start using hard modding , well at least your post to convince people this should be the way to go!

yes, the eeprom will be on the backup, xboxhdm has a good tutorial of how to copy all files including eeprom then creating a iso disc!

Actually, you just need ftp without any dashboard. So X3 and Xenium has that feature.

With ftp you can do anything you want. And yes, I can restore xbox to manufacturin condition.

hope all these posts will help others with the same problem, getting a hold of a chip is the answer so far! still would like to find a program that will unlock a locked hard drive when you dont have the hdd key!

i sure can, just post or private message me!

i got an email this morning asking if what we did can be done with a modded xbox as well, the modded xbox he has , has a solder chip inside it and cant be removed, the way we did it was with a solderless chip, installing it, fixing then removing, so he wants to know if he can do it, fixing hard drive in a modded xbox, should be able to, just plug it into modded xbox then ftp into it!

    is this correct Return??

    No.
The chiped Xbox can't read the broken xbox hdd. Because the hdd is lock.

If you unlock the hdd of broken xbox, then chiped xbox will read the hdd. Then you can copy ms dash to hdd. Or do whatever.

Then you have to lock the hdd again. YOu can not lock the hdd on the chiped xbox. YOu need the eeprom of the broken xbox. Then try to lock the hdd with xboxhdm.

Well look hard, but you can do it that way. Make sure you have the eeprom of the broken xbox. Otherwise you will need a chip to fix it.

but i believe he has the same problem as i had, why wouldnt the chip work the same as it did the way we did it? just boot up to menu and network into it to replace whatever files he is missing! i was understanding that all the chip would do is be able to let you ftp into the hdd like it did last night when i put the chip into my broken one!
