I don't have a VM box. I jsut have the internet from VM (I thought you didn't need it, not even the basic package anymore since the internet signal is split, and the vm asks as a modem, instead I have a seperate one provided by them). also yesterday as I said I was getting a pretty strong signal (constant) but wasn't getting many channels so surely it's proof that it works, no?
You don't need one but if that wasn't working you could have called them out. Have you taken the splitter out and tried a power-scan?.
@ HiTeck, congrats mate on new status, take you a while to post clock like me though Hope you don't mind me jumping in here @sublime as you probably know Bolton is both analogue and digital. Change your symbol rate to 6952 and try again. If you are analogue it will pick up channels, but you may be missing Sly Sports 1 and 3 along with a few movie channels.
Cheers Sc0user and thanks for the hand, I wasn't aware of that myself mate, just looked at the area list and was listed as 6887 so you learn something new everyday, cheers mate
Not proven yet to be right The NET ID list has been updated for most areas, the problem with Bolton had me stuck before
cheers. I will run the 8.952 test now. I guess i can live without them, but a bit disappointed too. (do older boxes have more success per chance?). by the way, if this test is successful, is there anything I can do to increase the success rate of picking up channels, or getting a stronger signal? such as a longer more through scan?
It is 6952 If you are in an analogue area and that's yet to be proved until you conduct a scan. Do a full powerscan on that symbol rate. Yes you can improve it somewhat with some minor alterations of the frequencies via a manual scan. But lets see what you get first
just found some channels. It loaded and went to the adult channel. I left it there for a minute or two and it said bad signal. I changed to another channel (sky sports news) and it picked up a signal. I put at the races on (as that was the channel i was having trouble with yesterday) and it got a signal but after about a minute it went off. i left it on the bad signal message for about 5 mins but it didn't return. I just tried a 'tvch' which had a programme listed in the epg, and it didn't get a signal after a while. i tried teachers tv which showed everything and it's on and is a clear steady feed. any ideas now?
bumpage. If I tried to do a manual scan what should I do? I don't know what frequencies the channels are at.
Did you find the channels on 6952? what is the signal like now, press info twice on the problem channels and report back the signal strength. How many channels did it pick up and did you start the scan fromm 100,00-to 850,00 as said above?.
yes 6592 i it's on teachers tv, level and quality are both at 78-80%. It's not perfect and sometimes 'squeaks' but it's watchable. 79 channels showed up. I put it on 'tvch9' and the strength is at 85 but it's not showing anything. just a bad signal. And yes I scanned from 100-850 and 8 steps on 6.952 (I did a factory reset on 6.952, that's correct yes?)
ok the channels are in the list, i just put it on sky sports 1 and it's saying no or bad signal. going to leave it pon here for a while and see if it gets anything.
I did the sci fi channel (it was working before) and it got a code and was playing (although very jumpy). Will do a factory reset and a deep scan now. i'm going away for a day so if I don't reply until tomorrow night, that's why. cheers for the help
