No job here, student loan, reckless spending, and no driving/drinking/smoking to cost me anything. Food and PC parts is ALL my money is spent on
haha. Nice nice. So you got any games to recommend? I've got written down Farcry 2 Crysis (tried it before but I deleted it) STALKER Clear Sky Red Alert 3 Fallout 3
Sounds like a good list. Perhaps you might like Supreme Commander (inc. Forged Alliance add-on), Unreal Tournament 3 and Left 4 Dead.
Ah, I already have L4D and UT3, but Supreme commander? I never tried that because it was getting bad feedback. What about World in Conflict?
hah, I'll check them out then. One thing that's pissing me off right now is that I'm getting the dreaded "Power Callibration Error" message when I try to burn DVDs. It burned CDs, but it can't burn a DVD, it doesn't even get to 1%, I've tried different programs, different speed settings, but one thing I haven't tried is different Disc Manufacturers. I've been using the same discs for AGES and I've never had a problem so... I'm using an Optiarc 18x AD-7191S (DVDRW / CDRW + Lightscribe) any ideas? Kind of off topic but if it's actually the DVD Laser then I'll have to spend £15 + shipping from ebuyer..
Either your drive is faulty, or you're using dodgy discs. The latter is more likely, there is a lot of bad DVD media around. I use exclusively Verbatim discs, and have never had a problem.
Well I made a nice discovery today. I whipped out a Philips DVD+RW Disc and it burned successfully. So it is most likely the discs. Memorex is a good manufacturer, right? http://www.ebuyer.com/product/102099
hah. Okay . Well I'm QQ'ing at the moment because I installed Windows 7 on my PC, formatted my C Drive with everything important on my D drive, and now I have no sound. I've come to gather that windows 7 isn't recognizing my Sound card "Creative Labs AudioPCI", it's an old one and the drivers are only for "N.T 4.0, Win9x)...I downloaded the drivers anyway and It just says "Remove only or Remove and Install" so I click "remove and install" and it doesn't seem like it installs it just skips to the next page and says "If you would like to Reinstall again just rerun SBSETUP.exe" So unless I fix this I'll have to buy a Vista-Compliant Card.
Correct, most Creative sound cards (including some brand new ones) have no drivers for Vista at all, and some more do but have very limited features.
This one has some good feedback and is a nice price. http://www.ebuyer.com/product/106540 Comes with drivers too and people in the feedback are using Vista as an OS and deep-down 7 is just a reworking of Vista.. Or this http://www.ebuyer.com/product/95435#
haha, yeah I think I'm going to go with the cheaper one. I'll look at the feedback and see what happens. To be honest I just want to listen to my Music (which was erased when I formatted my C Drive because I'm a dumb c**t and I left it on the desktop, and then when Win7 made a windows.old folder I deleted that too, permanently) haha, we'll see what happens I guess.
Lol, been there done that, had D:/Music ever since To be honest, for commonality reasons and CMSS (I like my upscaled music) I think I'm going to buy another Audigy SE (my old one broke it seems) for my gaming PC, and initially, try the onboard audio on my X38-DS4 for my 24/7 PC, as that has good microphone features. If its performance is that bad, I'll drop it for that Asonic I think.
lmao well.. I'm either going for the Trust PCI 5.1 Surround card or the Asonic USB card the difference is £2.50 the USB card would save me time opening the pc, finding a screwdriver, fitting it in, plus it's Compact so I can use it anywhere... What do you think? I'm not going to spend £25 on an Audigy SE since I'm saving for PC Parts and even though it's only a tenner or so more, still...
hexus? eh? What's Hexus? edit - the drivers for the Audigy SE only say "Windows 7 32-Bit" I have 64 bit.. edit 2 - a bit off topic but just wondering if I should get this DVD drive - http://www.ebuyer.com/product/149639 Samsung is a good manufacturer isn't it?
I think this is because Creative's Win7 drivers are beta stage. Hexus is a forum directly affiliated with Scan and Corsair. The burner is OK, but a lot of people complain about Samsungs as a lot of them don't bit-set. I don't know if that does or not, but I've had no issues with my LG burner. A GH22NS30 will do you fine.
I'm going to go with this - http://www.ebuyer.com/product/151999 It looks nice, it's an S40 not an S30, I doubt there are any major differences
