-baabaa- there is no cosmetics on my casing, it's just all silver and only a ATI 9700 sticker.

underneith is a warnibg about do not block vents blah blah and a Personal Computer Model No.: 258KA5 and that is all.

I did a search for the model number in google but only 4 entries came up. not much help though.

looks like you have bios version 1.02 so download 1.02, 1.03 & 1.04. unzip the files as there is a flash program file & the bios update. check to see if all 3 flash program files is same & if so than need only 1 of them. read on how to flash the bios & do what it says as you could end up with scrap if you don't.

that's a nice little note book!
after you do the bios upgrade if your going to put xp on it make sure you get SP2 as well. there are issues with xp and USB 2.0 and sevice pack 2 fixes that.
good luck with the flash and be carefull.

Sometimes it is a power issue for the USB. If the usb ports are not getting enough power it will not run the device. You may want to check with the MFG. and see if they have had any problems with this. I have seen on board usb ports go bad due to not enough power.

Thanks for the update but I already sent my notebook back so they can figure the damn thing out as I spent to much time and energy trying to find out how to fix the damn problem.

I'll keep you guys updated as soon as I get word.

    Greetings G and all,

    I too have the EXACT same problem;

    Tiny mediabook
    AMD 64 3000+
    ATI 9600/9700 mobility 128MB
    1 GB RAM
................SiS 7001 chipset and Windoze XP! SP1
American Megatrends BIOS ( which on my laptop i has the most watered down BIOS option i have ever seen )

worked perfectly for 6 months, then POP... USBs now work on and off up to a maximum of 30mins at the moment. I was looking into flashing BIOS, SP2, blah blah..

But thanks to this thread i know that all of that is a waste of time. I'm sending it back to tiny, then selling it if they fix it. I have ordered a Dell XPS GEN 2.

That sounds like a plan to me. I should be getting my notebook back in a few days from the manufacturer, and when I do im gonna run the shit out if to see if they fixed it, if not then Im gonna send it right back and ask for my damn money back....and get a hampster.
